It looks like someone ate the hl2 smg and digested it for a few hours before turning it into a sprite

Edit: I'm just saying a replacement that looked less 'syndicate' would probably fit the bill better since it doesn't take illegal tech to make it or anything

I think what he means is that he would like to see a SMG sprite that fits more with a Nanotrasen design style that does not look like something the Syndicate would use, or something very similar to a Half Life 2 weapon/MP7.

It just looks, modern, something you would see in the year 2000 not 2500's. Not really something I would complain about though I was just trying to see what the original problem with the style was.

This already exists in the code and it looks much better and less syndicate than the 'saber' thing. Why not this?

the current smg sprite does need a replacement tbh but not for the reasons paprika listed

The second and fourth ones seem good, the second one seems more of a alternative Nuke Ops SMG though, which might actually be useful given the Nuke Op changes being made.

The third and fifth look more like ghetto blastaz or gats than SMGs. Something you'd bust caps in niggas with, or take on a drive-by, not a professional military SMG for operating operators. Paprikas looks like the sort of thing I'd hold sideways.
For reference, look up the MP-5, the UMP-45, the Uzi, and the Sten. For future-y SMGs, there's the P90 and the Kriss Vector. Visually, submachineguns tend to have stocks and longer barrels, and are meant to be wielded two-handed, while machine pistols tend to be wielded one-handed, with shorter barrels and often integrate the magazine with the grip.

What if, instead of an SMG, the R&D gun was just a small caliber high-capacity handgun? A Glock 17, Stetchkin, CZ75, Beretta 92, a Sig P226? Heck, maybe a Space Tokarev?
I haven't logged into SS13 in at least a year.

you can have longer barrels or stocks but never both. Well you can but you lose a dramatic amount of detail unless you come up with a freakishly good design.

here's edits of three and four, the first four are modern black, the second four have picatinny rails removed and wooden furniture.

paprika probably wants something close to that last four, you apparently want a more operators operating operationally feel. Personally I want a more gits/gritty cyberpunk look for ballistic weapons but that's just my opinion of ss13 aesthetics out of many.

You really can't go wrong with wood furniture. Bottom left is my favorite out of those, bottom right is also nice. Top right is trash, top left is nice. If I had to pick, I'd say bottom left or top left. Probably bottom left.

I always knew there's art 'taste' elitists out there but I never thought they'd go so far as to bitch about pixel art to these lengths. My criticism with the saber is that it both doesn't look like a gun and also looks far too syndicate for NT. I'm talking those sinister red lights, that retarded 'laser sight' on the top, that dark ass color scheme. The only thing close to that in the station arsenal is the combat shotgun which is grimdark as fuck. Every other ballistic weapon has a retro future finish on it in some way or another, so the sprite feels way out of place in my opinion. The only other possible example is the freeze/ion rifle/xray gun all being a little dark but they fit the same theme as each other and aren't nearly as dark and syndie looking as the saber. I literally don't give a fuck about black outlines on items and if anything that makes it easier to pick them up since picking things up relies on clicking the actual pixels 90% of the time.

It was just kind of put into the syndicate uplink without any real thought put into the sprite but if you redo it keep in mind you have to redo inhands and the magazine as well. I love the SAW look to it though, belt fed weapons are delicious.

Can someone fix the flat cap sprites? the current flat cap doesn't look different no matter what direction you're facing on the mob sprite and it's kind of shit and I really want to live out my dreams of being a squatting russian but a working flat cap is all I need.

I like the color and everything but this sprite has no directions and I think that's an oversight that's never been fixed. It's flat_cap in the icons\mob\head.dmi file, please add some directions because I am not good at sprites.

I need some force field sprites.

Left side , middle (To have multi-tile force fields), right side, and single (includes left and right side on one tile)

For all directions.
They also need to be compatible with COLOR.

They should be thin like the sliding windoors not like the airlock doors.

Wanted: Sprites for a new anomaly and new engine.

I'm coding an anomaly which will behave similarly to the current singularity. However, instead of eating stuff and pulling it with gravity, it will simply float around and shoot bolts of lighting at any mobs or machinery, frying them to a crisp.

If anybody played Command&Conquer:Red Alert on Playstation and saw the 'shroud' thing on there, that's the inspiration. However, you have artistic license to do what you want (obviously). So long as it looks mysterious and scary please.

I will need the following components in order to create the effects:
>Tesla coils (for collecting lightning from the anomaly, much like how radiation collectors work)
>Lightning. This should be roughly 2 tiles long and 1-2 tiles wide. Lots of forks and branches in the bolt, that way when they are 'joined' together they won't look misaligned (I'm hoping), but rather just randomly arcing through space.
>The anomaly itself. Whatever you feel looks mysterious and unstable. Maybe a spinning ball of sparks? Maybe a weird Aurora-Borealis type shroud thing? Maybe something like they had in the stalker games? I dunno.

This is for another server, but I will provide/port the code to TG since their community is providing the sprites.

This is a big one. I need a "sun" sprite. Only as big as a stage 2 or 3 singularity. So not 32x 32x but not as big as a stage 5 singuloth. It should basically look like the sun. Blue, orange, or yellow works. It should not rotate but have some movement on the edges (like solar flares) so it dosn't look stagnant. This is going to be for a new anomaly.

>The anomaly itself. Whatever you feel looks mysterious and unstable. Maybe a spinning ball of sparks? Maybe a weird Aurora-Borealis type shroud thing? Maybe something like they had in the stalker games? I dunno.

This is for another server, but I will provide/port the code to TG since their community is providing the sprites.
