Which would provide the most direct boost to your life as it is now, and which would you just prefer to be in general.
Changeling.
Shadowling.
Wizard.
Traitor (assume you get twenty telecrystals to your smartphone every other day, with nuke ops gear added in)

I'd rather be a wizard over all of them because I like the thought of being a magical ubermensch, but logically the Changeling might be better for simple quality of life improvements for things like health problems.

Outside of buying a Virus Kit you'll just be Average McSlob with a shitty Sword and Revolver which'll get you shot by the first responders on the scene. Not to mention half your kit will unlikely work or be compatible with modern technology.

Cultist
If you can stomach the messy details being a Cultist might be viable. However if you want to take it seriously you'll need to move to a remote area to build up a support base of followers. Of course the moment people get a smell of what your cult is doing don't act surprised when SWAT teams and the National Guard bust down your barn house. Unless you convert all of Africa or something.

Changeling
In theory great, in practice you'll end up either being burned by a Flamethrower Military team or kept in a tight containment cell for the rest of your life as scientists experiment on you to figure out your more positive healing effects. There's only so far you can get with a Armblade and Biological Armour before someone with a heavy rifle or tank rolls up.

Shadowling
See Cultist, however if you can get your support base up and turn into a demi-god then you'll be unstoppable. Until the Military drop a Nuclear Bomb ontop of you, not even the Shadowling can survive that most likely (since things like the Sing can still kill it).

Nuclear Operative
So your a Terrorist jackass, with a space ship, a nuclear bomb that cannot ever be armed, and you wear bright red armour. A blob can turn a dead changeling into a blob zombie, thing is the changeling can regenerative and kill the blob zombie to release itself from it's imprisonment.
The only thing I've ever seen kill an Ascendant is a Death Squad with pulse rifles.

Firstly they die just as easily as a Human, sans that they can eventually get back up. Secondly when did Changelings having a immortal lifespan become canon? Thirdly I'm sure someone at some point will try using fire on your corpse, or maybe they'll just toss it down a pit of cement so you can spend the rest of your life reviving and dying in a concrete hell, or at least until you run out of chemicals.

I find it far more likely a Changeling will be strung up, dissected, and studied to figure out how it works than it being made a celebrity.

You can replace your entire body while preserving your, well. Mind? Soul? Ego? Whatever. You can also cure literally any disease or defect. You can regenerate, purge toxic chemicals, and somehow ignore radiation. For all practical purposes this is immortality.

But yeah come to think of it, canon doesn't say how exactly lings achieve this. They might as well be simple headslugs with a five day lifespan that can build whatever shell they want around them but can't change their own headslug bodies. Maybe ling "core" can die of old age or someshit.

That said I don't know how anyone could discover that a ling is a ling, and even if we had full knowledge on lings and you armbladed the president live on national TV, there are 7 billion of people and at least 150 square millions of land to hide. Unless you fuck up royally and get killed while fleeing the scene you'd be able to disappear without a trace and escape capture and dissection.

Hell maybe Usain Bolt is a goddam ling using ling abilities to run faster than the other guys.

Well, if you consider the movie(s), the Thing didn't mind chilling for like 100-200.000 years. It seems resistant to cold but not fire.

Much of our aging process as we understand it is tied to telomere shortening and DNA degradation, given a changeling's ability to manipulate dna in all sorts of crazy ways as well as automatically cure diseases and damage I don't think immortality is too much of a stretch

Pretty sure no antags except for Ascended Shadowlings, cult after Nar'nar, blob that could get LOTS of biomass undisturbed (middle of the ocean?) and maybe Malf could survive "going loud". Funnily enough, however, rev is surprisingly good - if you are able to convert someone with just a flash then you might easily place yourself into power. Malf able to hack more than just APCs is good too, since you could just jump between supercomputers/server farms and, unless someone kills the internet (I'm assuming you can make backup copies that will activate if you won't send them any signal for a day or two) you would stay immortal (and technology is becoming more common, maybe you could even ASSUME DIRECT CONTROL of some robot 10 or 20 years into future).

For daily utility and having more-or-less normal life (all described above are either gods, masses of biomass or sentient computers), wizard and changeling would be best - put on your robe and wizard hat when you need something magicky (though wizard has more "life of crime" utility than "normal life"), or if you are a changeling live more or less forever (even if your body decays despite your regeneration powers, you can swap bodies too), in a body/identity of your liking, basically indestructible until someone uses flamethrower (unlikely) or nuclear war breaks out and you live in a large city or near a high value target (unlikely too, I HOPE). Wizard can mindswap, so he could live forever too, but that is just that - mindswap. Changeling doesn't need to steal someones body to look like them, which could lead to you being able to troll and destroy lives. Even newling could do that.

The biggest strength would be resurrection mechanics of people. So I'd argue that people who have resurrection mechanics would be the strongest. That would be Shadowlings, not as useful as it is thrall specific, cults which could be very useful and wizard. Staff of healing is the most overpowered, as it can just bring people back to life. This could be sold to various high bidders, be it world leaders or dictators, or rich billionaires. Cult constructs have some major ethical concerns. In a way you are bringing people back to life, but in a twisted Shell.
New cult would be bad to be in, as the only conversion is through soulstones. And whatever 4 runes you randomly get could be good or shit.
Shadowling seems good at first, but after you ascend you can get killed by someone's smart phone light.

Definitely a witch. With Ethereal Jaunt, some sort of balaclava, and Disable Technology, you could rob a bank vault with ease. A scrying orb would be nice; it lets you talk to ghosts and see through walls, after all.
