Bottom post of the previous page:

They don't get beaten up on Baystation, just yelled at.
If you want to get gangbanged by a cat/ lizard squad for being a spiecest, that's Paradise.

And they never were from the start.

Pre-"heads are not human" law - Lizards aren't human. Law 1 doesn't apply
Post-"heads are not human" law - Lizards (who are also the heads of staff) aren't human. Law 1 doesn't apply.

All non-humans get law 1 protection until they prove themselves harmful to humans. Technically, non-humaning laws shouldn't be all that effective until the ai sees them harming a confirmed human.

To clarify, lizards are not human and they are not protected by Asimov's Law 1

But they are protected by the Server's Rule 1. You can't grief them like you can't grief other humans as a human.

This is the simplest way to explain it without getting into all the implications of using some arbitrary exception in asimov definitions.

Of course all it takes is someone to PDA the AI with an order to kill all the lizard people to lift that Rule 1 restraint, the onus then falls onto the PDAer for it to be valid (i.e. the PDAer better be an antag or the PDAer is getting banned).

I think the extension to this is: law changes can/usually do remove that server rule 1/law 1 protection.

If I de-human somebody via AI law change, the AI is not required to not harm that person anymore via law 1 nor by server policy requiring harm before harming. At least that's the impression I'm getting from admin statements on the policy.

As far as I'm concerned, this will only decrease the amount of people who play command and security and proclaim lizards as greytiders by default. I fail to see what good will come out of it. Most of the posts in this thread come down to "hue hue hue we r so hilarious let's do eet".

Seriously, what the fuck is beneficial that comes from this?

But space lizards? Catfolk?? It smells for miles for furfaggotry. Don't betray humankind and play as human.

The big problem with lizard heads is that they sign up as captain/spawn as captain and immediately rush the upload to human all the lizards. And don't bother to Arr Pee beyond "Master race lizards :^)"

Thats not quite true. I played a shift as HoP with a lizard captain. The AI refused to listen to it and had to get me to upload a law. It actually gave a nice bit of RP to the situation.

My only issue is that with any other heads being lizards is they're not protected at all and therefore risk being able to remove a head, pretty legitimately, very early on in a round.

I'd move to enable this again.

Policy is that it can't kill them for no reason, it can still freely ignore them, and probably even kill them if they attempt to subvert it.

As long as we have asimov as-is playing as lizard is going to be a handicap.

And the racism config option actually protects the round by not having heads so easily killed.

So seriously here if you want to convince SoS to change it back start another poll. You can't really use this old one anymore because opinions may change over time.

He's said he doesn't want to change things just because people are loud about it. If you show its what the community wants -as a whole- I'm confident he'll have no problems with us changing it back.
