temporary library comp fix

Post by 420weedscopes » #77736

this is absolutely a temp fix - it will work ingame until coders can figure out a better, more stable way of fixing it

a lot of you librarian players are always getting shouted at for creating a lot of lag ingame, because the book database reloaded each time you printed a book.
well, no more.
a while ago i figured out a way to erase the lag almost entirely.

1) once you're in, load up the console and head to the book database. it WILL lag one time for this initial loading.
2) at this point, use any device that opens a window. this can be your pda, but i find the photocopier next to you is a good shout, since it loads quickly.
3) close your second window, and leave the book database open while you stock books. you'll be able to print a shitload without any lag, excluding the first load-up.

if you close the book database window but need to go back into it, do the trick again.

you're welcome, internet.

Didn't MSO submit a PR that fixes this?

I have the library computer caching the book results, so there is no server side lag after that first book window load. Now, there may be some client side lag where only you can notice the lag, and doing this window trick may fix it, but no idea.

there is very much still server-wide lag. at least, that's what i'm assuming after people try to lunch me for printing books without doing this little trick. it should by all means fix any client-side lag.
