Election 2015 Commentary Thread

If you want to bitch about the election results/the community or whatever, please make a separate thread.

I'd like to think we as a community hold some of the most entertaining, drama-filled politics within the Space Station 13 realm, but it honestly isn't very fun if we don't talk about it outside of OOC.

I'd really like to set some guidelines for this thread. I can't enforce them, though it certainly won't hurt to keep them in mind.

1. Be painfully honest.
The usual suspects never have an issue writing what they feel is just, but a lot of staff seem to be afraid their "public image" in an online pseudo roleplaying community about a space station based video game will be forever tarnished if they let a few words slip. I have always been the type to appreciate when people just talk like people, so let go of all misplaced hesitations.

2. Try not to get too personal.
Self explanatory. I for one am a pansexual, macrophila obsessed American but that really doesn't mean anything in regards to who I am in this community. [Author's Note: I have been here for a little bit and I'm still nobody.] Leave the personal attacks out of this, only comment if it's relevant. (Though that's kind of subjective so I suppose I'm wasting my time writing all of this)

3. This is a video game.
Don't take it too too seriously.

Honestly? The election went well, in my opinion, but as of writing the Player Vote is still in it's runoff stage.

Everyone I wanted to win has either won or is on the track to winning, so I can't really complain. I just wish we could get someone pro-ERP into a seat of power.

I find it often a point of intrest that the people who seem to be fairly serious in the election (and usual start either smeer campains or other agressive tactics) are the first to go "Well I didnt want to be headmin anyway" or "this place is falling apart" as soon as they realise they won't make headmin. I'm not sure whether its a sore loser thing, or whether its the realisation that they may not be (publicly/globally) liked as much as they thought. Which is, honestly, a hard knock on the ego and self image.

However I have to say if that really is a blow to them they shouldn't be a headmin, its far from the walk in a park or "Im gunna make loads of changes/new policys" that it seems to be.

What I'm saying is people seem to treat it as a popularity contest (which admittedly in some ways it is), not as a position of staffing or a job mostly.

I'm afraid you're wrong, I had a few people in mind but certainly Kor wasn't one of them. It was also mostly a general observation from both this election and the last one.

I rember Kor from when i was starting about here tbh kor had too many fans of how he acted but it appears to me back then he was a good admin and did great events but then again a lot of issues back then werent addressed vigorously.

Like standards of code and issues. We have gone a long way in some sense but we got a ifinitly long path infront of us. With many traps and holes in our way.

I'm happy with the way the election unfolded this term, although I'm a bit puzzled how stickymayhem suddenly got so popular with the admins.

IMO (as I ended up voting for him in the admin election, actually changed my vote) was that he's been active and quite helpful. Sticky also basically moderated the entire clusterfuck of excitement and drama when An0n3 quit and while the whole process was painless more or less, Sticky really showed some great leadership in terms of organizing what we should have been talking about, who would do or say what etc. Plus he's generally likable.

He's a goofball that is just all around the opposite of the take everything seriously drama central administration of the past.

It also helps that he was an admin trainer and probably trained half the admins who voted him.
