27 days in, an overview of the colony.

Oxford has been slowly building a bridge across the deep water for probably the past 2 seasons, only recently starting it back up now due to the miracle of orbital trading allowing us to get ahold of a steady supply of wood and steel. The herbal med field was cut down a bit to make room for tobacco and pyschoids, which is essentially the rim version of meth/crack.

Captain Hutbeard seems to find comfort in fishing off the half-built bridge, which helps a bit with the meat supply and even occasionally manages to snag some ocean trash.

The second image is the cryocasket chambers from the ship sailing straight into the ocean, so if they survived the orbit entry they probably aren't going to survive drowning at the bottom of the sea.

what is your go to method for surviving crashlanding start? I'm on easy but nearly every colony I make the fuggin reactor lands on top of me or the fires roast me on the first night. do you just insta start digging in or what? also island looks good

Yeah, also using "Nature Is Pretty Sweet" for stuff like coastal turfs rising/lowering and other stuff that affects the terrain. It's pretty neat.

Find an area with the least amount of flammable shit and set up there, prioritize grabbing stuff like medicine and food over everything else. As for stuff like getting smashed by debris, there isn't much you can do past being lucky.

Shortly after getting over dysentery, Robinson and oranges held a marriage ceremony where the entire colony gathered in the dining room. The after-party was essentially everyone getting shit-faced from the beer stash.

Th pyschoid leaves have finally matured enough for a harvest. Wiznard is now the designated drug chef, producing yayo (cocaine) for profit. Hopefully he doesn't start to take from his own supply.

The bridge was finished with the first thing being done was popping the ancient danger. I was expected something as bad as the first one.

Each of them had about 12 gold on themselves and some components. That probably could of went much worse.

I almost never have a situation where I need to put a colonist in stasis that won't have them dying almost immediately so I just deconstruct them. Good stuff for late-tier bionics too.

Also, Anonmare tried to follow in the newly-wed's footsteps and proposed to Wiznard, who immediately declined. They broke up pretty much right afterwards.

Now I need to build a new hut, dammit.

I set up a new field of potatoes with some sprinklers for irrigation, which means rngesus needed to spawn a 3-hive infestation in the abandoned ancient danger next to it.

Urist has officially drank enough to start killing his liver, as he now has a carcinoma on his liver. This probably means I'll be stealing the next raider's liver so he can keep drinking.

After some backups and save corruption scares, we now have this to occasionally look forward to.

Orbital traders who physically land to trade/give medical aid/supply defenses. For a reasonable fee, of course. They just dropped a group of miners down and gave us a couple hundred silver in exchange for using the landing pad. The guys in green are in power armor with charge rifles, so I'll probably just let them keep doing them.

Also Qbopper got really sad while sick with the flu (along with 6 other people), so he decided to repeatedly cut himself in the hospital.

I'd post my mod config but I use the workshop for most of my mods so all you'd see is mostly workshop IDs.

The main ones I use that add these types of events are :

There's probably some stuff missing but A18 also did add a few events itself, so it's a mix of mods and new base content.

A cold snap really fucked over our last harvest and has left me scouring the entire map for even a small bit of food. I used the last of the silver to buy some simple meals from the last trader but 11 people eat a fuck-ton of food real fast. I even got some hydroponics set up with rice to try and get something out while everyone is sorta teetering on the edge. Booze and smokes don't seem to help much when you got an empty stomach.

EDIT: A random event causes all the turkeys on the map to go insane, which meant the ones hiding out of reach due to the reactor now came rushing to us. I had a hard time cooking the meat considering everyone dove for the meat as soon as butchering was done.

Oxford was having a hard enough time without (cooked) food and being forced to build shit, but the apparent last straw was that someone stole his last smoke. Oxford just straight-up dropped to the ground in a catatonic state, apparently now going to last for several days until he wakes up.

He also seems to randomly roll out of bed, forcing someone to go and tuck him back in. God dammit Oxford.

A local outlander town told us of an item stash with an orbital bombardment targeting device. This is essentially some old-world military marker for what might as well be an ion cannon. The trip itself is only 1.5 days, so I'm sending Donatello out with a couple days worth of food and hoping its mostly unguarded. I also have Wiznard crafting some weapons for turrets just incase we can't get the bombardment tool, because this shitty ship part is slowly driving the colony more mad than they already were.

A mining co cargo ship is dropping off a scouting group? Surely you can (un)willingly help us deal with this mechanoid problem!

The mechanoids got split up into two groups due to the ship's positioning, meaning the front half got chewed up by the scouting party while I had to rush to break down the part while the second group fucked over the bathroom and brewery. The LMG turret did a hell of a job against the centipedes and is probably the reason that fight was won as quickly as it was.

Oxford also fell into another catatonic state right before this. God dammit.

The biome we're in is temperate, but we live near more of the equator so winters are rather mild, only about 10 days of the year is growing not feasible. I was actually able to act fast enough and douse the flames on the crops so we didn't lose much at all.

Another fucking ship crash, really? Aim for somewhere else.

Seems like a pirate shipment, seeing how it came down with guns and a couple pirates. I find it funny the only surviving pirate managed to hit one of the isolated mini-islands with nothing to work with.

Seems like we're finally starting to get some good luck again, as rain falls shortly after the crash, dousing the debris and leaving most of the weapon cargo intact! Managed to scavenge a couple automatic rifles out of the wreckage in pretty decent condition, so this is a pretty considerable upgrade to our firepower. Not to mention the fuck-ton of artillery in those shipments, I can actually start placing IEDs around the islands and even get some mortars set up!

Day 73 overview:

Those long gray segments are conveyors, which are for sending the raw food from the back section of the colony straight to the cooking area. This massively frees the hauling work and looks pretty neat. Growers harvest, throw it on the belt, Sloan cooks it at the kitchen and throws the resulting food on another belt that goes to the mess hall. Yay for automation.

We got a tornado, which proceeded to do circles above the main farm before deciding it had enough fun taunting the potential of absolutely fucking over the farm and left north.

A pack of thrumbos came by, which are extremely valuable for their horns but are tough enough to solo a 2v1 centipedes. One of them happened to be in a rather shit condition and we waited till they started to leave. Always pick off the stragglers.

The horns go for about 1.5k silver on an exotic market, so that's a decent lump of cash.

Elections!

Apparently this group of shits believe they've been here long enough to try and establish some sort of hierarchy. We have three candidates running as it stands:

Elections are finally underway! The colony is starting to gather at the mess hall to cast their votes. Qbopper and Urist proceed to start beating the shit out of each other, maybe this is how the colony decided to elect their new mayor?

Also, that ancient danger seems to be a hotspot for insects to nest in. We really gotta put some incen traps in there or something.

Mortars are finally up and running. Some of the ammo depots from the pirate crashlanding had shells in it too, so I got some shells to fire. Absolutely nothing could go wro-

131 days in, overview.

The cancer-causing reactor was causing more issues than it was worth due to its positioning and blocking of several ore deposits, so I did the only reasonable thing and proceeded to shell it with mortars for 3 days straight. We had no power during these 3 days due to a pack of boomalopes wandering into the irradiated area and proceeding to chain-explode on the cable that was laid for said power. The entire area is completely fucked fertility-wise and will always look really ugly, but now at least we can travel through it without getting cancer.

Everyone had their rooms renovated with new beds and carpet. I also took the investment to getting everyone some shoulder pads as well as armor vests. Looking into getting some military pants for added leg protection but as of right now most of the colony probably won't die to a random sniper shot to the liver now.

Wiznard was already the colony's work horse when it came to crafting and with him recently becoming the new mayor, I decided to treat him with some upgrades.

Duel bionic arms for a pretty hefty manipulation boost means he does just about everything better. The lucifierium is essentially an over-all enhancing drug that's super good for making a good colonist a fucking fantastic one, but it comes with the trade-off that he will go insane and eventually die if he ever goes into withdraw with no way to cure it. As it stands, he chews through majority of crafting orders given to him and I'm pretty sure he could solo the entire colony if I got him a shield belt to protect against bullets.

I managed to rebuild the mortars and build up another hefty supply of mortar shells. The last explosion from the shells almost out-right killed Robinson and those were only incendinary shells. This would probably not even leave a corpse if they went off with someone nearby, so lets hope that doesn't happen.

A new wanderer joined the ranks, Levin. He also brought with two Labradors who he quickly trained to help in colony hauling. If anyone wants to insert themselves, now would be the time.

Anonmare has been hard at work researching for the colony, making strides in understanding how to make our own bionics to automatic shotgun turrets that absolutely devastate anyone close to them. One of the latest findings was ground-penetrating radar and an associated deep driller. The green pockets that are highlighted on the map are sections with deep pockets of ore, which can be just about anything you could mine aboveground. Hopefully we'll find a pocket of uranium so I can start churning out shield belts for our melee fighters, as friendly fire is a bitch when dealing with a raid.
