A - base game is free (you can pretty much play most of the game), you still have to buy the expansions (cheap on reseller sites), each expansion gives you a lvl 80 boost

Raiding is fun once you get into it! Can be hard to start though.

I never got into wvw, I do it for the stupid gifts you need for legendaries but Its not really my thing i guess. Just feels like 10 minutes of capturing empty places in a zerg before getting steamrolled by a larger blob. I'm sure its different in organized guilds though
