Played with the Drunken Division NC outfit on Friday which ended up being hilariously awesome. We had a massive Vanguard convoy going, most of whom were wasted and just steam rolled over a few enemy outposts. Then we went on to Hossin while everyone was on Amerish and pissed off the few VS and TR faggots who were there by capturing basically everything, made even more satisfying by the fact that the few defenders were incompetent as fuck.

Re: Planetside 2: Zerg Simulator
Engineer's anti-infantry turret is stronk. Worth throwing a couple cert points at. Doesn't fair too well against maxes but can be surprisingly effective against light vehicles and ESF's. It has a neato energy shield which basically limits you to being headshotted or having someone sneak/sprint around and shoot/stab you in the ass.
Engineer's anti-vehicle turret is...not so good. It's an infinite ammo anti-vehicle weapon with fly-by-wire so it kinda makes some sense that it needs to be balanced pretty harshly. Unfortunately the projectile is way too fucking slow to be useful against anything beyond medium range...and it's got absolutely no defenses / low enough damage output that anything you're shooting it at at medium range can easily just explode the shit out of you before you can explode the shit out of it. Useful for blowing up all these newfangled structures though, and if you can find some other engineers who have it massing fire with them can annihilate armor lines. It's the old IG flashlights vs Space Marine armor doctrine. The Mana AV turret is a cheap piece of junk but if you get enough cheap junk together in one place it works out okay.

I remember getting with a platoon and getting like 60 AV turrets on a big stone archway and firing at reapers and scythes. We only hit like 20 times out of 500 shots but we killed most of what we hit.

Re: Planetside 2: Zerg Simulator
The anti vehicle turret it's great for base turrets and slow moving vehicles as long as you set it up right. Set it up right out in the open and you're gonna get fucked up real quick. Set it up in a kind of hidden area like the doorway of a building overlooking a base or a shadowy rocky outcrop and you'll be able to get off a good amount of hits before they even know you're there. The lack of a shield works both ways. You may not have a barrier protecting most of your body but you also don't have a huge glowing shield giving away your position.An0n3 wrote:Engineer's anti-infantry turret is stronk. Huh? I was always picking off long distance vehicles... and softies with the mana turret.
Just because its fly by wire doesn't mean you shouldn't lead your target first, use the guidance to make fine corrections.
Also, fire it upwards first then bring it down on target like a javelin, that way the smoke isn't in your face, seems to track better too that way.

Re: Planetside 2: Zerg Simulator
Don't get the Rebel, I have it and am NOT a fan.
It can be suppressed, but like most suppressed weapons, it's still somewhat audible when fired- it just doesn't generate a minimap blip. It also has muzzle flash. Basically, it has all the disadvantages of the Commissioner and Crossbow without really having the good points of either. The poor hip accuracy is the biggest problem, since when going for the old shoot-and-shank, you want to hip fire (There's a small delay while you un-scope if you melee directly out of ironsight aiming.)
Personally I'm a fan of the crossbow- unlike a merely suppressed weapon, it makes almost no firing noise and has no muzzle flash. Plus, it has very low range falloff and can one-shot wounded enemies (or unwounded infiltrators) on a headshot.

Re: Planetside 2: Zerg Simulator
Yes, but it's also hella expensive. Rebel at least is something I can afford, and I do most of my kills at medium-short, anyway.
Crossbow causes problems leading targets because I have issues with depth perception.
Besides, I'm thinking about sinking those 1000 certs into a Carver - 1000 points of melee damage sounds pretty sweet.

Don't buy the carver. It'll do 1000 damage but you have to rev it up first, during which time you're visible and everyone can hear that shit. If you want to shank people as infiltrator you just two-shot them with the regular knife.

Suppressors do three good things: Reduce audio volume of gunshots by a usually (though not always) inconsequential amount, prevent minimap blips, and prevent people with the Awareness implant from spotting you when you take damage.
All the megatryhardimplantusers are running Battle Hardened, so you will very rarely run afoul of the awareness implant, and even if you do, cloaking de-spots you.
The blip removal is nice, but it's not worth the muzzle velocity drop for sniper rifles, and for Stalker play, if you're in a situation where the blip would be a problem, you're almost certainly better off using the crossbow than a silenced pistol- not only is it quieter, but the longer effective range means you can strike from a safer position. And it has no muzzle flash.
I hear suppressors can be handy as a light assault, or for smg-using Hunter-cloaking infiltrators, but at least for Stalkers, the crossbow is preferable.

Yeah, I've seen what suppressors do to sniper rifles, especially MUH RAILJACK. Ugly.
So I guess for sniping it's no suppressors, unless it's a flash suppressor once I'm done learning how to into scout rifles.

It works great at pretty much every non-sniper range if you just manually burst it, so I dunno if any of the others are a direct upgrade

Saving up for that sweet FUCK YOU rifle, and not sure if Longshot or Railjack. I mean, sure, the Longshot doesn't have a charging delay and packs more ammunition, but the Railjack deals way more damage and requires less leading and drop compensation. HAHAHA DISREGARD THAT DAYBREAK SUCKS COCKS. Seems the Railjack has the exact same drop as the Longshot, for 200m/s greater muzzle velocity and 50 extra points of damage. Fuck that.
