Bloodstained E3 demo finally got released to backers. It's pretty damn good, I almost started grinding for souls like in Aria of Sorrow when I realized none of this was going to save haha.

I know they fucked around with formations and balance, but the projectile system is an engine problem as far as I'm aware.

I read some review that they basically ported HW1 to HW2's engine for the remaster, and one of the things the newer engine didn't support was formations. Gearbox seemed to have released a patch much later though that re-added a lot of the stuff back in that was missing initially, and a lot of the more recent steam reviews seem very happy about it.

Also, fuck the Garden/Cathedral of Kadesh missions. What a curveball to be thrown, and they're missions that you need to be prepared for beforehand. I had to go back a couple of missions just to course correct. As much as I like the nomadic feel the campaign gives you, where you take every ship you had with you to the next mission, it's totally unfair to just dump you into an ambush like that when the last mission seemingly rushes you out, and the one before that doesn't give you many resources.

SWTOR is a complete fucking mess.

They're literally doing forms of psychological torture to get you to shill 30 bones to subscribe. The worst offender is the credit cap. Constant, repetitive notifications when you earn credits 50k under and at the cap. It's like water dripping, it gets to you and makes you break down as a person until you give in. Or you mute the sound which is what I did.

Past that since I subbed a while ago when Rise of the Hutt Cartel came out I've been capped at level 55 rather than the max level, 65. This means I can't really do end-game content since I'm not max level which is really dissapointing, so I think I'll put the game down until they fix their shit even though they never will since I'm not willing to give these fuckers my money to have the "pleasure" to nolife it up grinding my gear to be as good as possible and then immediately replace it with better shit when the new expansion drops.

Yep, just as I suspected. It's just the Kadesh missions that suck dong. Everything past that was nowhere near as painful as that was, not even the Taiidan ambush.

The last mission was just fucking beautiful, though. Adagio getting louder and louder as you draw closer to Hiigara. The emperor himself literally being what stands between you and your homeworld. The constant enemy reinforcements, and the rebellion midway through. And the Bentusi coming in with the massive Council fleet. What a great ending.

I've been playing Europa Barborum II and it's been really fun. The battles are good, lots of sounds and horns and general oh shit moments as I defeat the Barbarian filth out of my italian peninsula.

It's also extremely historical accurate and your soldiers don't start instantly with fucking Lorica hamata like in the base game and it also models the use of auxilaries really well as the only provinces you can make actual roman legions is either home italian provinces or heavily invested in colonies that you've developed to that point.

Played to what i believe is the end of the WIP, large empty courtyard with a door that doesn't open, nothing on the other side when i nocliped through.

Not gonna lie, map was really fucking good. Textures were simple but well used, fights were interesting and challenging (that fucking ambush revenant in the water bit was a real mother fucker jesus) Good use of ambushes and levels. I really like how the early part of the level relies on the SSG to fight some tougher enemies, it is easily the best gun in vanilla. Overall level was challenging without being bullshit. Died once on UV but i am pretty good at the game by now.

My biggest criticism is that ammo is waaaaay too plentiful. Maybe scale back the boxes of bullets/shells slightly, or add more dudes to shoot at. In particular maybe add some more reanimatable dudes in front of the door where the arch vile comes out.

Also i dont know if this is just incomplete but the "secret" area with the rocket launcher is really easy to find and there is no risk or ambush associated with it.

Over all this map has some chops. I have played a LOOOOOOOOOOOT of doom maps and i have seen a lot of garbage. This map has some real promise.

Also i was playing it on GZDOOM and i kept seeing little white spots that would appear and disappear as i moved. Not sure if it was GZDOOM specific or just a problem with your texture pack

Reinstalled Company of Heroes 2. The game is good but good lord the later campaign missions are awful. All of the sniper missions are terrible and there's this one where you have to defend two chokepoints from Germans but it doesn't tell you that you have to defend both, just that you have to capture them so you'll get fucked since your entire army is on one side and there's nothing on the other.

Played through Highway Blossoms in a single sitting. I'm normally not really into VNs (unless they have actual gameplay like Dangan Ronpa) but damn this one was good. Great characters, extremely funny and an emotional roller coaster.

I'd had my eye on Bunker Punks for a while, so I picked it up during the Summer Sale. It's an interesting take on the FPS roguelite--you run raids on monolithic corporations, stealing money and grabbing gear, and upgrading your bunker to strengthen your Punks between runs. Once all your guys bite it it's game over, but then you can go to the REAL market and buy actual upgrade unlocks. The visuals are charmingly old-school if a bit repetitive (so far), and the sound quality is surprisingly good. I wasn't expecting voice acting, at least not as crisp as it is.

The actual run'n'gun isn't that wacky, though the game certainly has personality. It's very old-school: no reloading, no cover mechanics, hell, not even any crouching. Just dash through a maze of a level shooting robots and grabbing money until the elevator unlocks. There are a lot of modern twists, though: you are limited in how many guns you can carry--I'm only up to two so far--and you can only carry what you wear, so you might swap out armor that gives you more protection for one that gives you a 10% boost to shotgun damage, for instance.

For Final Fantasy 14 all their characters still exist. That cinematic was just marking a complete recode of the game. Every character that existed previously was given access to specific items and tattoos.

The Seventh Cataclysm in FFXIV had two purposes: to give a lore explanation for why the game suddenly looks and works so differently after the reboot, and to give the players a one-of-a-kind epic farewell event. At that time the dev team was still in full damage control to regain the trust of the players and ensure them that this time around they knew what they were doing.

The after-effects are still visible everywhere in the rebooted version, which is very cool. Those massive "swords" that dropped out of the moon can still be found in several places, encapsulated in crystallized aether. There's even a whole chain of raids related to it that go deeper into what exactly happened in that video there.

Ideas for the best damn Imperial Guard game of all time

I am really torn on the plausibility of this one. So much of the marketability of 40k is the BIG HUGE BEEFCAKE SPESS MEHREEHNS STEHL RHEN RIP AND TEAR type bullshit. At the same time though they have really been going all out giving licensing rights away for all kinds of awesome games, even if they are mostly fantasy ones. I think a hyper grimderp war is hell style IG game could probably sell pretty well. Maybe not in a PvP sense, but a kind of 1st or 3rd person shooter hybridized with a tactical style game. It would be really easy to be able to swap to one of the billion other guardsmen when you die/have people join as random mooks at any time. Could probably slot a little vehicle combat in there as well. Just say it is targeted to the COD audience and the higher ups will throw money at you.
