Proposal: resisting lawful arrest as a non-antag is an OOC issue, not just an IC issue.
Why?: Things like this (one of many cases) happen.

Have some examples:
Grey McTide smashes a window into Command EVA and takes the toolbelt. A nearby Security Officer draws their taser and tells them to halt. Grey disarms the Officer, tases them, and runs away with their taser. This is Bad And Wrong.
Dindu Nuffin is relaxing in the bar, when the HoS starts firing lasers at them, hitting them and other bystanders. They run away. This is okay.
Guil Tee starts attacking the Clown in front of the Detective. The Detective shoots them with the .38 and starts to restrain them, but Guil's friend shakes them up and drags them away. When Security goes after the two, they robust the arresting Officers and take their equipment. This is Bad And Wrong for both Guil and his friend.

If you're not an antagonist, resisting a lawful arrest (when you did something illegal, even if it's something minor like smashing up the Bar or having a stunprod) isn't acceptable. You can't fight Security when they try and detain you, and running away is sketchy unless they're clearly not performing the arrest correctly (they're literally shooting you with lasers without trying to tase you first).

If you're an antag, you're free to resist arrest as much as you like (but bear in mind that Security will go after you when you do; so it might be smarter to submit to custody if you don't have any contraband!).

The golden rule of dealing with security is that how harshly they treat you is directly proportional to how annoying you are. Sec needs to just crack down on shitters really hard, and ignore the small stupid things.

I was playing the warden the other day and I had to deal with officers bringing in tons of people over and over to brig them for 1-2 minutes... That pisses me off. I don't think there should be brig sentences less than 5 minutes. If you do something so insignificant that it only warrants like 2 minutes in the brig then it's a waste of time to haul them in. Tell them to stop. If they don't stop, stun them, search them, take anything stolen they have, and shove them on their way. Pepperspray them or something to get a point across. If they keep doing minor shit over and over again, haul them in and give them like 5-8 minutes for being a pain in the ass. More officers need to give warnings for minor shit, even if that warning is a taser, or if they're really annoying, a single harm baton.

Call me crazy but doesn't breaking into a high sec area and then trying to disarm and steal sec's gear for legitimately trying to arrest you or jumping in to help your metabuddy after sec arrests them for trying to beat the living fuck out of someone fall under the rule 1 category? It's not that far off from kill baiting, the only difference being you're fishing for an excuse to steal weapons and gear as opposed to outright killing them. Seems like the kind of thing that warrants a short ban or even a long term ban if it's a constant habit.

It's a shit move and boils down to people trying to find ways they can get away with being a dick without breaking the rules.

The way I see it, if someone's trying to break into high security areas for no reason or bait security into trying to arrest them so they can "defend" themselves by stealing shit from the officer, then chances are they're just looking for excuses to greytide and be a dick. There's literally no other reason to do that kind of shit.

I've noticed this happen lately too. Some guy ran around with a body and then spaced it when sec came after him. We permad him and I went through the effort of getting a sec hardsuit and going into space to find the body. It turned out to be a suicide body. We left his ass in perma for it though.

That guy didn't attack sec though. I think if someone does that and then uses it as an excuse to rob an officer you should ahelp it.

I think the current rules are tolerable, but would prefer a much more explicit clause to the escalating rules that intentionally stealing sec gear is considered a lethal escalation of force because you now have a deadly weapon.(as far as I'm aware taking a explicit weapon is antagonisic enough to dunk)

personally I think running to get away is a part of the standard aren't. I usually just five a search to anyone who submits. it's using an officer chasing and shooting as an excuse to start escalating that's the problem.

Greyshirts commiting petty crime and getting the whole sec force worked up into an angry froth by legging it is how sec don't die of boredom in non-wiz/nuke/gang rounds.

Depends how obnoxious the sec force is being. If you slip the HoS and honk on him and he sends every available officer to steal your shit and give you 10 minutes in the brig he deserves an ass beating.

Slipping a Officer as a Clown/Mime is fine in my book. Mainly in that its a prank but also a exercise in keeping to attention when going through the halls, as next time your slipper may have a more malicious intent.

The appropriate response. Never have your gun or baton out unless the perp is on or just barely off screen, and if someone jacks your gun while doing that then you've every right to beat the shit out of them.

I think that's the definition of shitcurity. Unless you're chasing someone and the clown slips you this is just more reason for greys to hate reds. Just baton the clown once, maybe even harmbaton, and move on.
