Ban reason: As an atmos tech had some bad escalate in which they tried to kill an officer with an axe for stopping them from lynching a detainee on the spot who was responsible for barricading the engi storage. This officer was beaten down to -107 HP and eventually died. Security must non-lethally detain people, this includes stopping people from killing their detainees. Them stopping you from killing their detainee does not give you the right to in turn kill security.

Detective here! I don't post much on the forums but thought I should throw on my two cents.

I accidentally hit you while spam-clicking to pick up the axe after shoving you over to take it from you. I was trying to explain this to you while you beat me up in the hallway, but you knocked me over with the shove>punch combo and killed me while I tried to speak to you.

You later on in the round told someone that you "should have blown up the brig", and you released water vapor outside of the security hallway, which nearly killed one of our officers to a doorcrush. You were doing nothing but acting like an antag this entire round and i was honestly hoping for your sake that you would show up in the roundend report as one so that i could feel better about getting axe-murdered by you in this way.

This got peanut-y, but. I posit that even in the case of hitting John with the fireaxe while he was restrained you were escalating poorly. Killing me was even more over the line than you already were.

Nope, I never said anything like that. I sprayed some frozen water vapor into security since you told me to cool it, which very briefly causes a temperature drop, but nothing significant in the long term. The only antag here was the assistant who broke into engineering twice, prevented us from doing our jobs, and who you let go scott-free instead of permabrigging them.

We let them go because you were killing me and the officer needed to come help me.
The frozen vapor thing is a very funny response to what I said though I'll give you that.

Anyways, this was peanuty to begin with. Good luck on your appeal, even if I think its a legit note.

EDIT: I was incorrect, it was Zishy who was calling for a security bombing, not you.

Hi there, thank you for making an appeal.

First of all, as a preface all of this occurred on MRP so more rules.

After looking at both the attack and say logs together again I am standing by my original decision to note you for this incident. Security was there to do their job by arresting the man who had barricaded the engi storage room, you even asked security to "lock that man up", something which they were going to do before you burst into the room and started killing the person they were there to arrest. Security tried to stop you from killing the tiderman with your axe, in the process of doing so the detective shoved you and took your axe, accidentally hitting you once with the un-wielded axe. Their intentions were obvious, they even told you to cool it with the axe in an attempt to de-escalate the situation and put up zero fight against you after you got back up from their shove and started murdering them on the spot.

I see all of this as an obvious case of over-escalation on your behalf. Security was there to deal with the man who barricaded the engi storage and you ended up killing sec for stopping you from hacking a man to death over a B&E charge and a very obvious accidental misclick with an un-wielded fireaxe. The say and attack together do not paint a good picture.

Rule 1 Precedent 6:
You may defend your workplace from trespassers who damage or steal property within that space with significantly greater force than elsewhere. If someone is severely disruptive and returns after ejected, this opens them up to "fun" of the creative workplace death variety.
The assistant in question attempted to steal the fire axe out of Atmospherics after breaking in there beforehand, and then also disrupted Engineering proper by literally stopping us from accessing our techfab. See also Rule 4.

The Det stopped me in my attempt to send the Assistant to Medbay, which is an appropriate response to the above. I agree that beating the Det to death was a little excessive, and I didn't have a good understanding of how well their armor protects them from my unga, and it is difficult to determine the extent of their harm towards you in a scuffle, even if it is a misclick. Experience on TG tells me that treating everything as intended is less likely to cause me to fall victim to antagonists or regular crew pulling a fast one on me, something that I experience often, and have more limited options to fight back since I have 200ms latency on Manuel.

You can close this appeal. Aside from actually getting notes overturned, this forum is a quick way to pool information from logs and different players and have a more balanced view on what happened.

from the rule you quoted, it specifies 'defend your workplace' - it didn't really seem like your workplace needed any further defending. the culprit was being apprehended by the station security. the escalation was done, per this tidbit.
If you are incapacitated in a fight and treated, or the conflict is otherwise meaningfully broken, you are expected to require an IC reason beyond 'bruised ego' to re-initiate it.
