Ban/note type: Ban

note length: 3 Days

Ban Reason: Intentionally delamed the SM into a singu ending the round and killing a good number of the crew. Although you had a vote ran not everyone consented to dying violently in a singularity.

Server you were playing on: Manuel

Round ID: 225361

Why are you making this appeal?(Check what applies):
() - The ban/note is factually incorrect
() - The ban/note is not against the rules
() - The ban/note needs modification
(X) - The ban was unjustifiably harsh
() - I was permabanned and I want another chance

Why should this appeal be accepted?:
Ticket
From Ticket #3 during round 225361 on Manuel:

2024-03-11 10:04:08: Ticket Opened by bmon: You singu'd the SM because of a vote..?
2024-03-11 10:04:20: Reply from vect0r: I did
2024-03-11 10:04:40: Reply from bmon: Thus killing countless people and ending the round
2024-03-11 10:05:50: Reply from bmon: You're meaning to tell me everyone, and I mean everyone, consented to this?
2024-03-11 10:06:19: Reply from vect0r: that is correct! I both agree this is bannable but I really do hope that a lot of people had an enjoyable experience :)
2024-03-11 10:16:14: Reply from bmon: I told the bus this but if no one votes they didn't want to be signu'd I'd rule 0 it.
2024-03-11 10:16:28: Reply from bmon: Unfortunately that's not what happened
2024-03-11 10:16:35: Reply from vect0r: nah that's fair <3

I think that my actions in this shift are justifiable.
First off- the stage:
It was a greenshift with a grand total of 20 players. I was played as Cecilia Vujic, the Atmospheric Tech.

Secondly, I think that releasing the Supermatter as a singularity after an overwhelming yes vote is a true ss13 moment, and something that I wouldn't want to change. While I wouldn't want to see it every shift, a rare fun event that is from the crew (as in not admin started) is not a bad thing, and a fun and memorable shift for everyone involved. I spent time making this a memorable event- with a viewing chamber and the chef giving out ice cream and food to people observing the singularity. If I had to count, there were 6+ people around watching the supermatter and actively enjoying the shift.

Thirdly- I understand that not everyone consented to this event- but I would like to bring up a poll that Bmon created after said singlo, which ended with these results:
Image.
If I am being honest, this poll leaves a bad taste in my mouth- 14 people voted for the singularity I released. I feel like a 93% in favor of something is a pretty effective case that something was not an act of intentional griefing the crew- it turned a otherwise boring shift into something memorable for people, and most of the crew enjoyed it!

I do understand that in 99% of cases, releasing a round ending event is unacceptable as a non-antagonist, but I think that the combination of lowpop, overwhelming support, and a otherwise boring greenshift push this from a clear case of self-antagging to something that improved the shift and made it more interesting and entertaining for most of the crew.

It wasn't overwhelming, in your own words...

[2024-03-11 10:03:23.658] GAME-COMPAT: ADMIN: DSAY: Bmon/(June Creighton) (mob_3235) "Who singu'd the SM?" (Research Director's Office (132,100,2))

[2024-03-11 10:03:30.335] GAME-SAY: Vect0r/(Cecilia Vujic) (mob_3594) (DEAD) "I did Bmon" (Psychology Office (82,78,2))

[2024-03-11 10:03:35.112] GAME-COMPAT: ADMIN: DSAY: Bmon/(June Creighton) (mob_3235) "Wait why" (Security Office (121,171,2))

[2024-03-11 10:03:50.135] GAME-SAY: Vect0r/(Cecilia Vujic) (mob_3594) (DEAD) "if you look a bit ago we had a vote and like 5 people voted yes" (Aft Primary Hallway (106,90,2))

[2024-03-11 10:03:55.689] GAME-SAY: Vect0r/(Cecilia Vujic) (mob_3594) (DEAD) "we had a whole viewing party" (Research Division (117,90,2))

Now I am no mathematical wizard here but 5 isn't quite 20ish players, and even then if 20 players said yes to singuing the station it doesn't automatically make it valid. It should go without saying you can't just singu the station as a non-antag and get off scot-free because 5 people in a vote said you could.

I ran a poll out of kindness using the admin polling tool and separate from the one you had run IC after I told the adminbus that I would rule 0 you for singuing the station if no one voted against the poll, someone voted that they didn't want to get signu'd so I treated it as a normal rule break. Let me make myself clear here, I didn't have to do any of that, I could have just banned after learning that you purposely delamed the SM into a singu as a non-antag.

The ban length was light for what you did, I am honestly surprised you are taking this stance for something you knew was bannable.

[2024-03-11 10:09:10.696] GAME-SAY: Vect0r/(Cecilia Vujic) (mob_3594) (DEAD) "THIS is completely bannable" (Cryogenics (82,111,2))

I am not lifting this ban. Feel free to request a headmin review.
