Ban reason and length: didn't respond to admins immediately after a ling killed me and set off a maxcap bag tied to a deadman's switch, turning the dorms into a smouldering crater - perma job ban and 1 week global ban respectively

Time ban was placed (including time zone): 16:43:04 GMT

Your side of the story: According to the initial job ban reason, I was job-banned because I didn't respond to admins. I was AFK making dinner IRL. Once I got back I immediately responded to the admins. I'll take the global ban, but the job ban's just mean.

Why you think you should be unbanned: We all have to go AFK to make dinner, and once I got back I complied and responded to the admins. A whole week long global ban is a bit much, maybe a few days instead? Also I'll stop carrying maxcaps everywhere I go as a scientist when not an antagonist, sorry.

Deadman's switches should really not be used as a non-antag since you can die from a lot of things and everyone in the area shouldn't be gibbed because you died

But is being a dumbass with a deadman's switch really worthy of being banned for a week? The length does seem a bit over the top. I'll make sure to ahelp and ask about using a deadman's switch before doing anything like that again.

More likely than not its so long because it looked like you blew up dorms then went Afk.

I went into the dorms, bolted down the room to make sure nobody would find and murder me (turns out that didn't work at all) then went AFK to make dinner. Poor changeling sees an easy target for a genome to extract, kills me anyway and then well, we all know how the story ends. Oopsie.

Just for the future, either don't use these deadman setups ever when you're not an antagonist, or be ready to deal with what happens.

I was ready to deal with what happened, just it seems that me taking a few minutes to reply on account of needing dindins was what got me banned.

No, it wasn't the dindins that got you banned, believe me. I'd still be potentially in favor of reducing this ban since you seem to understand now that running around with a deadman switch like that is a COLOSSALLY awful idea, but I'll defer to Atlanta on this one
