revamp of malf ai function menus
the menus for the override/destroy console module for ai currently are simply a scroll list of literally every single machine on the station, and there is nothing more frustrating than spending ten minutes scrolling through the entire list, not finding it, and then having your borgs destroyed anyway. if someone could at least implement a search function like the security records console to the modules it would make life many, many times easier.

Right-click your target instead.Deitus wrote:the menus for the override/destroy console module for ai currently are simply a scroll list of literally every single machine on the station, and there is nothing more frustrating than spending ten minutes scrolling through the entire list, not finding it, and then having your borgs destroyed anyway. if someone could at least implement a search function like the security records console to the modules it would make life many, many times easier.

Yeah use the right click menu on what you want to override.
I made the same mistake first time I was ever malf, I think the interface is more of a fallback if anything.

right-click, optionally press the first letter of what you're looking for repeatedly and the selector will jump through all elements in the list that start with that letter

on the arrival shuttle, I saw the iconic toolbox on the ground. I clubbed myself in the head with it trying to figure out the controls.
Setting the tool box, now bloodied, back on the table; I went to heal myself with a medkit. I clubbed myself in the head with that too.
I've come a long ways from asking how to switch hands.

Honestly we should remove the verb from the info panel outright. Clicking it like that is beyond useless and I highly doubt anybody types it in the command line either, so there's no need to know the name of it for any particular reason.
I code for the code project and moderate the code sections of the forums.

Re: revamp of malf ai function menus
right clicking doesnt bring up menus for me normally unless it only does so specifically after you "purchase" the module, and when i type out the name it always goes to the alphabetical first of whatever i had. do you mean keep pressing "r" until i find the right option?

Re: revamp of malf ai function menus
it only shows up in the right click menu if you own the module, yeah
and while you're in the list you can press a letter on your keyboard and it'll jump to the next entry that starts with that letter, as simple as that
the key difference between the list and the right click menu is that you can only right click on what you see, but the menu lists everything that you can blow up regardless of whether it's in view
