Sybil Round 152363
XtremeSavageXD on Discord - Silent Night as Character
Admin: Borisvanmemes
Was Mime, got onto bridge, got a captain ID, proceeded to purchase Asteroid Shuttle and asked for nuke codes, specifically saying "gimme the codes bitch". Was then killed by "Divine Retribution" ---- Borisvanmemes then proceeded to say in dchat, "I smote him for asking for the nuke codes with a shit reason." ---- I don't understand why an AdminTrainer thinks he has the power or the responsibility to remove an antag from play because of his opinion of that antag's actions. I admit it was a stupid message, but he could have just not responded. Instead, he insta killed me, an antag with objectives. I am asking for antag token in place of my round, and that the admin be given a warning. I don't expect the most professionalism at TG, but I don't play this server to be killed by an admin on a whim. For context, while this was happening, grey tide had killed the entirety of command and stormed the bridge, and I saw nothing happen to them for the entirety of the round, at least ban wise. This is the stuff that gives TG a bad name. My round shouldn't be getting ruined by an abuse of power.

As a point of precedent, sending a shit nuke request code/message/other to CentComm or the Syndicates can and will result in you being inflicted with revenge by them. This applies whether or not you are an antagonist.
Typically this takes the forms of lesser retaliation then instant death, but can vary depending on how "annoyed" the receiving party is. It's worth noting that this reaction is not typically affected by antagonist status however.

Relevent logs, unscrubbed apart from a single line of asay.
The ahelp's logs.
Both taken from here. https://tgstation13.org/raw-logs/sybil/ ... 3/game.log
I was unaware that you were an antag when you got smote, nor would it have changed anything.
I have nothing else to add.

I'm not sure why instant death is seen as a valid answer to an ingame joke, especially seeing how it all "depends" on the admins mood. That seems like a pretty long stretch of power there.

It's generally considered poor form to ask the all-powerful multi-planetary corporation for codes to destroy their space station, especially if you're clearly being rude in the process.XtremeSavageXD wrote:Arianya wrote:As a point of precedent, sending a shit nuke request code/message/other to CentComm or the Syndicates can and will result in you being inflicted with revenge by them. i wasent aware that syndicate operatives cared about proper form or being polite. The whole point of this report was that i preformed an antagonistic action and was removed from the round due to an admin, and as I already quoted, “being annoyed”. There’s a stark difference between shooting a fireball at me and giving me 20 burn damage and removing me from the round. And as the precedent apparently revolves on the Admin’s “emotions” and how much they are “annoyed” they get to decide weather they kill or not. I think that Rule One has been violated here, as I pointed out the lethality and and permanent way of killing, especially when admins have a range of response options. But no, this admin chose not to send a singular fireball, not to cream pie me, not to even ahelp me on why i did it, he just killed me. The abuse of power is evident.Vekter wrote:It's generally considered poor form to ask the all-powerful multi-planetary corporation for codes to destroy their space station, especially if you're clearly being rude in the process.XtremeSavageXD wrote:Arianya wrote:As a point of precedent, sending a shit nuke request code/message/other to CentComm or the Syndicates can and will result in you being inflicted with revenge by them. In an attempt to shed light on this situation: any direct line of communication to the administrators including prayers, adminhelps, and the centcom/syndicate message systems are generally treated a bit differently regarding responses and what might be constituted as spam or junk. The problem here lies in the request for nuke codes being viewed as an antagonistic action for which you were punished--which is wrong. Asking for nuke codes may have in-character repercussions from your fellow crew members, and you are certainly within your right to ask for codes and blow up the station provided you received them, but the manner which you engaged with it could be perceived as a misuse of this communication tool.
Let's look at this example through the lens of a prayer: whether or not you are an antagonist does not matter in your prayers. If you misuse prayers and send the admins a message containing "gimmie free stuff bitch" you'd likely receive a similar if not lesser response. While prayers can be muted, they're a way of contacting the admins, and begin to step into out-of-character territory with admins. Praying nonsense, spam, or junk can potentially lead you to being poked, prodded, bumped, and even potentially muted.
On the other hand of the extreme are adminhelps. If you adminhelp nonsense, you're likely to get your ticket closed or told to shove off. If you continue this kind of behaviour, you're likely to get adminhelp muted or punished due to your abuse of a system intended to be used for genuine questions or concerns.
Messages to central or syndicate command fall somewhere between. Let's take a look at messages: unlike prayers, they cannot-to my understanding-be muted. Central command announcements will show up through text with their own header as a way of letting admins see them--particularly for important communication. When you go to send a message, keep in mind you're given a warning that misuse can lead to termination. You are, by every account, acknowledging this when you choose to send a message. This is also true of nuclear code request. You can view the message as it shows on the console here:
While I won't make any comment regarding whether the severity is justified or the reasoning behind it, as it is not relevant to my message, the intent is to decree that by using the communication consoles to send a message or request codes, you are absolutely agreeing to forfeiture of life through misuse and, in this case, "gimmie the codes bitch" is certainly tired.

Regardless of the outcome of the thread, id like to clarify that i wasent trying to call any administrator a bitc*, that was aimed more at CentComm. And i’m not saying that antags should be given immunity from being smited for spamming prayers or the messages, I just don’t think that a one time alert should be punished with instant death. In all honesty, I could care less about dying after sending something dumb to CC, but when a player only receives antagonist sparingly and the round is in full go, the impact of removing them from the round outweighs the need to ass blast them in retaliation. If nothing else comes from this thread, i’d just ask that the admin consider that before clicking a button that drastically changes a players experience.

First I want to apologize for the delay on this complaint. The holidays dragged us around a bunch but that shouldn't have gotten in the way of handling this.
Quick recap time. Player(XtremeSavageXD) hits a button with a big warning label saying abuse can result in termination. Admin(Borisvanmemes) determines this to be abuse and exercises their tools to deliver retribution. Player dies do to wounds sustained by said smite from Admin.
During this time Borisvanmemes did not break admin conduct and we believe their use of tools here to smite XtremeSavageXD to be well within the realms of their intended use. We believe they did not abuse their toolkit during this incident.
While we don't intend to uphold this complaint we do want to recognize that this was an extremely unfun way to interact with a player. We hope in the future that all admins be more selective with how they smite players if it isn't going to improve the round or contribute positively to the players experience.
