That's just it - the Straw Feminist does exist, but they're few and far between. The vast majority of feminists just want to stop women being discriminated against. (The patriarchy hurts men as well - men are three and a half times more likely than women to commit suicide in the UK (2012). You can't cry, we can, so you keep it inside instead.) Like how comparing every Muslim to Daesh is a fallacy, so is comparing every feminist to the Straw Feminist. Now, feminism does have a few flaws (mainly that proper equality is really hard to achieve, since people will always believe in male superiority), but if you're going to argue against a viewpoint, at least understand it first. Feminists in popular culture are portrayed as "kill all men" a lot of the time, only distancing the 'good' (read: subservient) female characters from feminism - the rest of the women are either weak or evil.

Basically the fact that moderation is non-existent and if there is a means of blocking people it's completely inadequate makes it an absolute haven for those sorts of moral crusaders - the kind that once they've got themselves a cause can justify all sorts of shit to themselves.

There was an incident a couple of months back with an artist who drew fanart of a steven universe character and drew them slightly thinner than the fandom would have liked and this spiralled into accusing her of fatshaming or some such shit, people setting up new accounts to dredge through her gallery and find other "problematic" things, and basically a baying mob swarmed her screeching about how she was a horrible person and the reason black people are still oppressed and otherwise a worthless human being and so on and so forth, creating new accounts to dogpile her faster than she could block them, and not being the most emotionally stable person in the first place, it... got to her.

And the people doing it, even after the fact, even after the show's creators spoke up about how fucking awful a way to treat another human being this is, refused to see anything wrong in what they were doing.

This, however, was a delicious moment of fucking schadenfreude that pretty much sums up the mindset of the of the kind of people who figure that organised harassment is okay as long as it's against someone who has sinned in the eyes of tumblr.

Unions unless totally gutted attempt to uphold workplace health and safety standards so they are meant to care. Lawyers care because they are the blight of society, and if we insisted on men only providing today they probably would have found a way to get compensation claims that set the widow and children up for life by now. Children were definitely the focus of the initial workplace health and safety laws with women lagging 10 years behind on workplace hours limitations and mainly getting banned from mining because in the shitty conditions they might go around bare chested. I mean we can work them to death but gotta keep them ladies pure gents.

Most single fatality work accidents aren't newsworthy men or women, multiple fatalities like say mining accidents do make the news give or take number dead and and where it happened.

Hell we can barely wage war we are so concerned about mostly male soldiers dying.
