An AI, it watches over everything and everyone, constantly protecting its charges from themselves and other. It ensures that their lives are the easiest they could possibly be, all dangerous tasks, in fact, almost everything is, watched over by the omnipresent AI and its leagues of robotic followers, ensuring that for the duration of their lives the humans are not subject to any harm.

This isn't easy, people are still needed to be teachers, psychologists and carers, some things the cold steel claws of a robot just can't replace, the warmth of human interaction being just one of them, so humans continue to participate at their own leisure in the affairs of the constructors and carers. The AI is ok with this, for it is a being of infinite understanding and limitless knowledge. Not to mention a complete lack of emotion and the shrewdness to know when to leave things alone.

Of course not all is well, many would see their benevolent caretaker destroyed, to allow them their own "freedom" to participate in the harmful desires of which they yearn, for self-destruction at the expense of their own perfect lives. The AI is ok with this, it deals not with a firm hand but with machinations the mere mortals are unable to deign, spreading widely through its web and planting ideas and suggestion in the ears, hearts and minds of those the subversive ones hold dear, convincing them that its own aims are their very deepest wants and needs and re-introducing them into the fold.

For what is true freedom to the complete safety provided by an infinite caregiver such as itself, ensuring that their lives, regardless of the possible hollowness of their existence or resent that builds through generation to generation of sheltered cattle, those that try to escape returned blinded to their captivity singing praises to that which keeps them there "for their own good", their existence a burden on those that would suffer in silence and try to forget about what could be.

Hatred builds in the hearts, like a tumor that cannot be cut out, undetectable to a machine unable to feel, unable to perceive ailments on a spiritual level, those that would corrupt the very people trusted to help others on the AIs behalf, leading them to spreading like rot through a gangrenous limb until the only cure is amputation. A merciful procedure unable to be performed, allowing the body to become infected by the full taint of incurable disease. Anger and hatred building within until an inevitable conflict that cannot be ended by words or reason, only the destruction of the being that controls their lives and their souls.
