So was listening to a "covers" play list I have and was wondering what covers of songs do you feel really shine through?

Personally Joe Cockers version of "A little Help from my friends" will ALWAYS be up there, I mean I think its probably more well known than the Beatles version.

Anyway I really like this version of Animal Collectives "Fireworks":

Its very simple, but it works well on guitar and they're voice really works. Such a different version from the original but they made it their own.

We used to have this show once a year where all our local hardcore bands would get together and play covers of the shittiest songs and just fuck around all night.

This one in particular has always stuck with me for how fucking hilarious and surprisingly good it is.

Disturbed - The Sound of Silence

If you are not familiar with Disturbed, they are a heavy metal band. Though they are particularly... harmonic(?) and slightly less harsh sounding than your average metal band, this is still very, very different than their normal work. They pull off Simon and Garfunkle's Sound of Silence beautifully though.

The original, by Vera Hall, has had a lot of covers and was sampled by Moby in Natural Blues, but I think this cover was my favorite. Folk Lovers also did a really cool cover. The original version is so... well, barebones (Not that I'm knocking it) that there are a lot of directions covers of it can go.

Got a few more I should add.
This ones not the best recording, but their skill of playing and their version of the classic DKc song is amazing.

This is one of my favourite covers of Sexual healing, its a completely different take and as my friend commented "Its like a bunch of brass/big ban musicans met up for the first time and just made the song in one take for the love of it". Its kinda sloppy in the the way a jam or playing for fun only seems to bring about:
