saw an 18-year old (but mentally mature) crewmember try to buy cigarettes, but they were denied and reported to security! It is appalling that such bigotry in our codebase exists.

Additionally, our rules are extremely bigoted we don't even allow the chronologically challenged to play our game, it sickens me that we could discriminate on something someone can't even control.

This community is so filled with hate.

Honestly I don't get how TG can even call itself an bigot free zone when we ban players because of their immutable characteristics.

On one hand, we should raise the age needed to play the game to 21 to protect young adults from some of the game's more mature themes. On the other hand, judging by the LRP servers, they'd just play underage anyway.

Reading the thread makes me wonder if perhaps the wrong approach is being taken with rule 11. Like, if you just go straight to requesting a rule change to force a shift in the “conscientiousness” of the community, it’s going to immediately make people who don’t agree with you defensive. But when I just read stuff like hulk’s post in a vacuum, ignoring any advocation for rule changes, I can relate to and sympathize with what he’s saying and consider just personally cutting those words out of my vocabulary.

Obviously this sort of approach wouldn’t work for everyone, but I don’t think it’d hurt to try before resorting to rule changes. Then again it’s just a game community, maybe I’m just putting too much thought into it.
