So in case you're not a schizo who checks the public perm bans section (https://tgstation13.org/tgdb/publicbans.php) repeatedly in hopes of finding funny bans, both jackrip and doctorbrutality/pugie recently got fuckin permed for actually doxxing and joking about doxxing.

Can't believe that someone with so much time in this community (jackrip) would dox someone you'd think that people would realize that doing that is giga cringe but people are wild I guess

also rip pugie got hit with the bat for making an unfunny joke at an especially bad time pugie is digg and cringe I have edited my take on him and as such this post

not sure how peanuty this thread's gonna get but I figured it's worth it for two relatively close perms for "being a massive shithead online" aka doxxing

It wasnt a doxx if it was a public account.

Jackrip didnt doxx anyone, he made a joke about it in a private discord and all the admins in the server immediately ran off to headmins and leaked it.

In that case, it’s fairly cut and dry.

I still dont think this was handeld properly. The person that got "doxxed" got named in this thread, the platform he got "doxxed" on and the username.

Sadly Vekter fucked up big time by just deleting his account instead of deleting the post that where the problem. The platform will still just store your post and a 3rd party site can easily just be used to find all post the account made on the website.

If you are ever afraid of beeing doxxed dont just delete your account, read up on the deletion policy and in case delete all post or comments by hand. The platform in this case will now give Vekter the middle finger and keep all post on there forever.


Anyway i recommend this thread beeing deleted because it just screams look at *Persons* account and look at his stuff

focusing on the digg account is missing the forest for the trees. the rules take doxxing seriously enough that joking about doxxing someone is a bannable offense - that's the whole point of contention (but not really, just don't joke about doxxing people) here.
once upon a time goofball accused someone of doxxing them by posting his digg account, and got laughed at. to my knowledge nobody got banned over that!

This is correct, there are also other reasons it fits that I can't discuss at this time. Form your own opinions about it and if you really think it's over the line then encourage him to appeal it, but when it comes down to it he still threatened (jokingly or otherwise) to use my publicly available information to doxx me. That's a pretty clear-cut violation of rule 7.

If you come to find that someone from this community has personal identifying information about themselves that's public, it's probably a better idea to let that person know instead of sharing that with your friends to laugh at.

Multiple people did this (including people I absolutely DID NOT TRUST) and they ended up saving me from a way bigger problem than it was. If you really don't feel comfortable telling someone, tell an admin or headmin.

Nox, I don't think you're aware that quoting Rule 7 and the Ban Reason doesn't actually answer anybody's questions. We're not all plugged into Discord/Admin channels, and most people here are trying to understand the specifics of the situation.

I can't discuss some of the specifics of the situation because some of the information may still be out there while search engines update and whatnot. What it comes down to is someone noted in another Discord that Jackrip was actively talking about doxxing me using my digg account. Legality is correct that I had personally identifying information on that account; however, that information being accessible and me being doxxed are mutually exclusive.

Using info I posted about myself would be just telling everyone that information. The info in and of itself is sensitive but not enough to explicitly identify me. If I had posted my workplace and address somewhere, that would have not been doxxing.

Using that info to find more information about me is doxxing. If Jackrip had taken that info and used it to find out where I work or my address, for instance, that would be considered doxxing.

Either way, the rule applies because you're not allowed to mention you're going to do it even in a joking manner.

It's been easier than I thought it would be, mainly because some folks in the community have been very good about helping me find spots I missed. I won't mention them as it might make them targets for helping me, but you know who you are and I appreciate you.
