Gameplay: someone is going out of their way to write these books they don’t just appear. People who esex through the books are often doing other overtly friendly actions (I’m looking into one couple that currently exists now)

Consent: I (nor others from the looks of it) do not consent to sexual content being in the game, or at the vary least unironic erotic actions in a game that’s glorified ttt on a RP backdrop. I find the exhibitionism surrounding your (desired) sexual encounters weird especially in the context that there are servers dedicated to including eroticism in the game you opt to not join, and perhaps more Importantly I know that these often translate into game impacting relationships much more readily.

It’s not absurd to ask people to keep the unironic sex RP outside of the game, even if they do it in the way that’s less visible to players (really compared to just efucking on discord it shows how badly they want it to be public in some way which I personally find a bit weird). The obsession with including it is honestly more embarrassing that whatever perceived notion you have about individuals somehow misusing a rule that’s intentionally obtuse to cast a wide net of actions.

These are all unrelated to the discussion at hand, which is, should books containing smut be banned, and you argue with points that target an entirely different issue. E-sex through books from a couple you are investigating, what are you, the sex police? Do you not have any other thing to worry about in your life if you're snooping up on people and measuring if the amount of hugs and kisses crosses the ERP treshhold?

It is text within a closed book, you cannot be assaulted with it, nobody can force you to read it, and there is no imagery that might stimulate your senses! I simply do not see how this is compareable to these ERP fantasies that you describe here, and to me, a couple of fringe books containing some erotic fanfiction is not an issue, and it would be appreciated if you could start treating everyone else around here like they know what a man and woman looks like without clothes.

No but players should all consent to the level of e-sexual interactions, even those that are less visible, happening on the game especially since, again, there are repercussions that tend to bleed into the game.

You are not going to tell me that people are writing smut and submitting it to the library without the intention of it being read publicly either """ironically"""" or not. That is what I mean when I bring up exhibitionism. i mean you can but we are just going to disagree here. Its weird and I dont believe most of the smut written involving player characters was written then publicized to the library, which requires navigating through 2 of the worst UIs, was not done either creepily or intentionally creepily for shock value/ "a joke guys you gotta believe me!!".

I have never once thought "you know what it would be ABSOLUTE COMEDIC GOLD? If I wrote a book about my character and another character having really detailed sex". I can buy the more absurd works like WGW or references like Lusty Xeno Made but the ones between player characters I simply cannot swallow the idea that they are "just for laughs", ESPECIALLY if the author is also the owner of one of the player characters. it's weird and either they dont realize it or they do and hoping to get a reaction.

The only real point of contention is "it doesnt affect you" but It does in the sense that this behavior just enables people to build these semi-public esex relationships which eventually translates to drama either through ingame memberships or OOC issues (see several hotbed issues from the Manuel server, and Lizards of old on both the LRP servers). Of course writing smut about player characters alone doesnt do this but it does solidify that persistent relationship (its there forever until an admin deletes it!) and really just encourages something that is arguably antithematic to a game where nearly everything is suppose to "reset", especially your allegiances to people as they become bad guys on occassions. If you want to argue that the book writing only affects the parties having the pretend sex in the round it was written, i'd ask why put it in the library then and just leave it as a tee hee insider? The intention of the books is to be publicized to some degree thats why you take the time to write the book on the shitty formatting system and engage with the shitty library computer UI. There are just too many obstacles here that someone has to cross, especially now where you can efuck to your hearts content thanks to social media (or in the same vein posting the """"funny""""" wattpad fic easily to the peopel that would actually get a laugh out of it) that I have a really hard time not seeing it as creepy to an extent to save that for the entire community to see.

Another fan favorite is "It's funny". I disagree if its between player characters, its shock value and the laugh dies down a lot faster than the lifespan of the book itself. Its arguing preferences though so no point in even bringing it up.

There's not much else to it, the rule as it is doesnt support it and idrc about (unspoken) precedence especially when if we looked at some of the people involved in these books its not a surprise they also probably have metafriend notes or were otherwise well known to be buddy buddy. I am not interested in putting brain power in making things like WGW books retained through the wording of a rule but the closest you would probably want to come to is limiting smut involving PCs if there was some sort of compromise needed (get better humor tbh wgw hasnt been funny the last 100 times its been read on the radio and the person was killed).

One problem is though is that some are thinking WGW and the people arguing FOR the issue is like a more recent problem where this couple was writing sex books to each other where they are literally both major characters in their erotica (basically their fantasies of ERPing without it actually being ERP). The question that comes in is why are we giving these people the idea they can even toe the line here especially since its inconsistent with the written nature of the rule to begin with.

I agree with cobby on that point, that's fucking cringe, but I still maintain that you can see the book title, see the "adult" tag, and then immediately decide "hmm, no, fuck that, I'm not opening this."
you can't force anyone to pick up a book, and if the book's title is so NSFW that it's somehow a threat from just seeing it that's a cause for deletion outside of everything else.

The problem, however, is "I want to delete all the shittily-written erp logs between players that masquerade as books" requires someone to go through the whole library and read everything there.
That's not going to happen, and I don't think anyone wants to read all the adult content to make sure it's all clean and not "erp logs masquerading as books".
So the next option would be to nuke everything tagged as adult, which is apparently hard enough as it is and you also eradicate shit that cobby said was fine (lusty xenomorph, actual shitposts with adult content)
And people don't even take that as the primary option, because for some reason "nuke the entire library, lol, xd" is one at the forefront of most people's minds.
