I've never understood the mentality certain people have of looking at what other people are doing with their lives and needing to control or punish them for it. If I see somebody I disapprove of I just ignore them and go about my life. It's always either idiots or insecure people too. Like their validity as human beings hinges entirely on what other people think of them. I think this is what the Unabomber meant by oversocialised. Cattle who interpret everything through the lens of social acceptability and live and die on what other people think.

i expected a demonstrable pop spike/increase of people trying the videogame since we now were more "open" and seemingly everyone was trying to invite their X friends, otherwise totally anecdotal

i don't think it's really fair to expect player count to suddenly go really high up b ecause a couple of people said "yeah i have a trans friend i want to invite but this place kinda sucks". extremely hard to prove if they did end up inviting people or not!

i didnt say that, i expected a demonstrable (at least temporarily) rise in newer players though. If slur usage wasnt the smoking gun then it shouldnt have been used in the discussion as "my hesitation for inviting my X friend".

It was a very convenient talking point that couldnt be argued against (we didnt know anythingabout their friends except they were marginalized group and found the server too crass) and seemingly went away as soon as the slur stuff was addressed. Given the zealotry associated with anti-bigotry i would have imagined users who actually invited their friends would have brought it up as a success testimony (IE "since we removed slurs my friend was more comfortable enjoying the game and they absolutely love it! We should do more to broaden this!"). It was really slimey even if everyone DID actually invite their friend, but I simply dont buy the virtue gold mine is collectively being avoided because everyone who used the talking point is just too modest to pull easy forum social credit especially after trying to one up how anti-Xist they were in the thread.

But if you were going to these lengths to put down fucking transgenders of all things, you'd be way past the point of "brainless shit-talking" territory, you would be more in the "daddy / mommy left me and now I need to compensate" territory, which is to say, you wouldn't be in a good headspace right now.
Would recommend touching grass in that case, as they say around here.
