Turning people who break into your kitchen and mess with you into a hamburger has always been an ss13 pastime. Yeah if you did it constantly as chef or ran into a particularly strict admin, you'd be banned, but certainly we shouldn't shy away from this being a thing entirely, right?
Then again, I spose I can't have my cake and eat it too. I do like RP, and leaving punishment up to security is a pretty big part of that (being an employee on a corporate space station after all). Going full-on cannibal castle doctrine is funny, but it flies massively in the face of that basic premise.

So at the end of the day, I'm pretty mixed on this one.

That admin response is pretty condescending, and the ban reason is misleading based on the admin's response. But the scenario makes me doubt the character of the banned person.
Round removal aversion is one of the biggest weaknesses in the rules of Manuel.
The great irony of Manuel is that its rules restrict what many characters would do realistically, leading to worse roleplay brought on by fear of getting banned.

Losing is part of the game.
Your character will frequently die, sometimes without even a possibility of avoiding it. Events will often be out of your control. No matter how good or prepared you are, sometimes you just lose.

I think progtraitor has broken a lot of brains where since it's so easy to green text now they get into their heads they are supposed to just be ALLOWED to greentext. The ban is stupid tho. Admin just regurgitated some vague rp rules, called that a "warning," and then pretty much immediately went to a 3 day ban.

however, i'm totally and utterly confused as to how the mime got into maint in the first place, claiming that they were "stuck" there. it's at this point i realize that they must have had the hand teleporter from the captain's office, which explains how they were able to get away from the captain. as you can see in the logs below, they're teleporting around to various places and landed into the little botany maint room you see above.

so: to sum up. they were not trapped at all. in fact, they made a conscious decision to not use their hand teleporter and to instead start shooting the kitchen maint door. they were an already known criminal who busted into captain's and that bombed the hallways. this mime, with their guide to advanced mimery, was already banking on a death wish. at most the chef should have been warned for putting up punji sticks FNR.

I think rule 10 from our core rules (losing is part of the game) is one of our most important and it seems to have been lost on manuel. It’s why I ultimately prefer our other servers: I’d rather play with a bunch of stoic assholes than kind crybabies. Of course not every manuel player is like that, but when those who are are protected by the rules, it becomes a much, much less attractive server to play on, at least for someone like me.

I doubt there’s really a perfect solution, but I think we can do better.

I'm saying these rules exist because nobody wants to be round removed for that long without good reason, so we can't have things like what Iwishforducks is describing without Terry-length rounds (which results in everyone having to speedrun their jobs) or death being less consequential.

yeah its often better to just DNR rather than wait. i feel its also good for roleplay, if you had friends it gives them something to fight for, etc.
