Reider is one of my decoys which I pay to validhunt on sybil so that the metagang who complains about ""bad faith"" players until they get banned for playing in bad faith by tricked elder administrators don't turn their gaze to me. This is all going to plan and it's because there are actually hairstyles you can only get if you are the alt of certain banned players. Perchance.
I have not noticed Reider much outside the constant AI announcements being written like a fuckin biography but it's nothing that hasn't happened before with the le epic maypole player of the month before they get perma'd.

Serxule sucks. It's entirely within the HoS's right to confiscate weapons from confirmed antagonists and attacking the HoS during an active cult situation is really not a great look. Succumbing should void your right to an ahelp. Stop saying 'powergaming' IC, I don't care how much a tantrum you're throwing. Metagrudging is absolute shitter behavior.
Reider sucks. Behead cult meta is garbage and a sign of someone who plays to win at any cost. It should've been easy to confirm if Serxule had been deconverted by asking over security comms, something he didn't bother to do. Slipping a ban request into your ban appeal is one of the most vile things i've ever seen.
Players grouping up to fuck with one person in particular is a sign that they aren't very welcome. It also fucking sucks and smacks of metagrudging.
Everyone peanutposting in the appeal thread sucks.
This is perhaps the worst possible timeline for this appeal.
Edit: Also this note and the ban reason sucks. I hate that i'm agreeing with Reider, but this was entirely an IC issue.

How is this not just an IC thing? Both sides willingly escalated several times.

The biggest issue here is that you are the head of security. Because of the nature of security and the protections you have, there is not much that can be done to escalate against you. If you tell them to pound sand, they are out of luck. They can't get security to deal with you, probably can't get command to deal with you, they usually have worse gear than you, and they'll probably get curbstomped by the rest of security if they try anything against you. And even when they did successfully get the gun back, you just went after them to steal it again anyways. Their options were either give up entirely and write their shotgun off as gone forever, or fight you for it for the rest of the round despite the fact that you have the advantage in escalating the situation to the point of critting or killing them.

This is just bullshit, I have stuncuffed and stripped or even killed shitter HoS before, yes it's an uphill battle, but that's part of gitting gut.

Heads should strive to set a good example for the crew, it's tough as the HOS though, especially those with the mindset of taking down group antags COD style, but sometimes you have to make executive decisions that may or may not work out in your favor when centcom gets involved

Offering the laser gun was because I just felt a bit bad about their angry rambling. I feel significantly less threatened with a laser gun than an improvised shotgun. Lasers take a while to down a target and give you time to react while improvised shotguns can 2 tap people into crit, give severe bleed wounds, and can stunlock into a wall on the first shot. The guns do not compare.

And here I thought Reider was just being a dick to the bartender by keeping his useless shotgun from em for no reason. But nope, he did have a reason - to powergame, apparently. Clearly makes the whole situation better!

b) talk you down politely, maybe make you laugh (yeah i just dropped my keys in the gibber officer, he was just trying to help me get them back, it was a horrible accident but it wasn't my fault)

I hate the playstyle Reider has, but imo, this is another instance of an admin taking action in a situation that doesn't justify it, and (just assuming here), maybe influenced by popular opinion and ooc/discord reports, which even I have voiced.

Someone being a powergaming shit non-stop every round in which there aren't admins online doesn't mean you get online and ban said player that particular round for something you (most likely) wouldn't ban someone else, no matter how one feels with a player's playstyle.

Both parties were being awful in this case, and in this throwing shit competition, both were justified in acting like that with each other. Let them eat shit and just don't intervene no matter what the outcome is.
Reider was aggressively powergaming as per usual, and Muffler was being a dipshit crybaby. No fucking sympathy for either. Suspend any sort of admin intervention regarding escalation, no matter how it ends. I C I S S U E

I agree, and it's not really a problem per se, more like a fact, an inscapable truth. I think this should be added as a disclaimer everywhere if you ever try to sign up as an admin (if it isn't already). It shouldn't be something giving the impression of being "easy", and if you make the decision to become one, you should remember that it was your choice to bear that weight, and without pay!
Yeah I don't think everyone can be an admin, training should emphasize this, hard.
