On round removal.

Post by Itseasytosee2me » #683421

I find myself in an often opposed camp that believes that round removal is very healthy for the game, and that our current efforts coding and policy decisions seem to indicate a desire to make round removal an event that occurs as little as possible.
The idea that you can be recovered indefinitely to your original round-start state of being no matter what horrible atrocities fall upon you and no worse for wear, is deeply unsatisfying.

Traitor, in order to assassinate someone, must inviably take step to remove someone from the round, because otherwise if the killed body is found ever, they are as good as alive again and also know have a grudge to hold. Nothing is accomplished if the body is found. The only other option is to somehow take the entirety of medbay out of commission, likely via a bomb. Life is too cheap to allow it to ever allow a body to be recovered/

See how the mind tricks the soul?
As it starts to rot and fester oh so slowly,
Up until the point it will finally die.

So we look over here. Perhaps we might enforce some sort of penalty for death or revival, something maticulous and thought out, eris has it's cruciform system which is something we might be able to take inspiration from.

Oh god the heart my heart is threatens to explode what am i doing here why can I continue to type oh father forgive me as no Christian god ever could.
Deliverance only achievable by ones higher power
No tramua of wine scars me.
He can't handle it.
We are all there.

Listen please before I have nothing left to say.
WHAT WILL THEY THINK
AM I ART
BY HEART CAN NOT REFUSE IT'S CALL
WHY CAN YOU NOT SEE WHATS BEHIND MY EYES.

They laugh and tell you it's gonna be ok but you can only scream.
They send you home from work early.
You can't deal with the clients like this William
You don't need them anyways.
How can it be a joke.
How can it be art.
When it hurts you so much?
One more day, one more night.
One more chance to turn the kill the body and mind.
- Sincerely itseasytosee
See you later

Yeah that sounds about right. Base heretic was a mistake, and it's lead to pretty cringe falling back to make it not fucking deranged

the closest to this is us restricting round removal tools til later in the round which has no bearing on how often it occurs just when in a round it begins to occur

really wish heretic would give job content to medical instead of the weird thing it does now. Touhou minigame is pretty cool tho, wonder if that could be repurposed somehow.

I feel like it could reasonably replace one of the curses as long as the damage is capped or it doesn't give them the phobia. Maybe both, unless you have an item that they touched earlier. Then it has full effect.

I would rather straight up have old heretic than the shitty trauma rn because old heretic would at least have a chance for me to get revived.

I mean I love just getting round removed by a shove cuff on roundstart. Round removal is a necessity but its also a fucking curse. Heretic's should take a arm or a leg so at least its still playable if you get revived.

man, what's wrong with there being consequences to getting targeted and killed by the big bad antagonists? you might have to sit out for 40 minutes? sure, that sucks a little bit. if it didn't suck no one would be afraid of antags

if people knew they would just be revived in 5-10 minutes they would give no shits about antags, just alt tab and come back when you're revived. the possibility of round removal makes you have to care about dying. less round removal = less you have to care

Rule 10. You're gonna lose. It's part of the game.

The heretic gay trauma is worse than being round-removed. Even if you get revived, you're gonna have a sucky time.

I'd rather die and play some ashy or hop into a posibrain.

It is technically possible (albeit extremely difficult in most cases) to remove the heretic trauma. Regenerative cross breeds from xenobio will fix it.
