I feel like there may have been some miscommunication on Chadley's side, but the dude was asking for more and got hit in the head. Positive notes are a privilege, not a right. At the very best the dude could complain about what happened, but this was in no way an admin conduct breach. I don't really care about whether Chadley gives them the note back or not, but it's the funniest note "appeal" I've seen in a good time because it just sounds SO offended and like the suffered huge amounts of admin abuse.

Notes when placed aren't really to be touched, in the same vein that you don't remove a bad note for good play you don't remove a good note for discord shitposting. This is a pretty clear cut fuckup , which is fine we all fuck up, but we absolutely should not encourage this behaviour or treat it as if it's alright.

i give out positive notes all the time to people that put a lot of effort into a gimmick that makes the round really special or people who take an event role and utilize the mechanical power/roleplay authority to make the round better instead of in a self-serving way. no one owes us shit for it, it's simply to let them know that we appreciate how they chose to play in that moment and so they can feel like their excellent conduct is being recognized.

there is a process for removing notes, we're not supposed to just go in and delete them, positive or negative. the times this usually occurs is when the note is found to be factually incorrect, misleading (in tone or content that will misguide future admins that look back on it) or (obviously) through a successful appeal.

to the first part of your post: absolutely, we are given a lot of discretion and individual responsibility in our roles and are encouraged to use it. we're not and are not expected to be a "hivemind", as they say. oftentimes that means we disagree, and we regularly have long, productive discussions in adminbus about a lot of things where we encourage people who disagree or feel differently to speak up and make their case. in the end, because we are given such independent freedom in how we decide a ruling, the final decision that an admin makes is squarely on their shoulders alone.

once the stamp hits the form, no other admins except headmins can overrule it. we can only give our input to the admin in question in a constructive way in the hopes that it will better inform their judgement by giving them multiple points of view.
