It's not. There's some debate over whether or not it is in the trans community, but to my knowledge it's something like 80% against, 20% for. I'm not trans, so I can't speak for the community, but I can say that every trans person I know considers it a slur, and that's not a small number.

I can't really assume good faith at this point. I explicitly explained to you why you were incorrect and why his actions showed he was either trolling or actually expected us to be accepting of his views. Do me a favor - replace him saying "tranny" with "black people" and tell me if it feels any different.

I think the real confusion comes from you assuming that, even if he was being bigoted, he deserves to be treated with respect. The issue is that if you treat someone like him with respect, it legitimizes his bigotry - he believes that we're okay with him hating trans people as long as he doesn't do it here. We aren't.

Being trans isn't a choice. Hating trans people is. He can choose to stop doing that and play here, or continue it and not. It's that simple.

E: And to answer your question, yeah, if he'd said "transgender" instead, I'd probably still be very wary of his actions. Asking if a server supports trans rights is one thing, but saying what he did is pretty openly hostile and makes it clear he dislikes trans people.

Well if he wanted maximum disruption he would've asked in ooc rather than ahelp right? That's ultimately your decision as admins whether to ban him, and his choice of words indicates probably low social intelligence, but it seems like if his intent was to cause trouble he would be broadcasting his question to more than one or two people. I think you probably could have told him that wasn't acceptable and noted him so that he'd eat a permaban if he talked about that to the server at large. Seems otherwise like you're banning him for ahelping what the server rules are ("Can I be bigoted on this server?" "No, you'll be permabanned if you say that to other players").
That's probably the extent of what I'll say regarding the issue since I don't care that much, but my experience from playing is that people talking about transgender stuff virtually never occurs on the server itself. If you warned him not to talk about it, and he didn't, and he played a few rounds you might have changed that person's opinion about the server rather than let some other outsiders define his opinion of the place.

I rarely argue for harsh punishments, but this case is just so blatant I'm wondering whether it would call for this bozo to be deadminned immediately following this incident. It definitely warrants an investigation at the very least, which our headmins don't seem to be doing.

Well if he wanted maximum disruption he would've asked in ooc rather than ahelp right? That's ultimately your decision as admins whether to ban him, and his choice of words indicates probably low social intelligence, but it seems like if his intent was to cause trouble he would be broadcasting his question to more than one or two people. I think you probably could have told him that wasn't acceptable and noted him so that he'd eat a permaban if he talked about that to the server at large. Seems otherwise like you're banning him for ahelping what the server rules are ("Can I be bigoted on this server?" "No, you'll be permabanned if you say that to other players").
That's probably the extent of what I'll say regarding the issue since I don't care that much, but my experience from playing is that people talking about transgender stuff virtually never occurs on the server itself. If you warned him not to talk about it, and he didn't, and he played a few rounds you might have changed that person's opinion about the server rather than let some other outsiders define his opinion of the place.

Banning a player for approaching you and asking a question is beyond retarded. Wordlessly banning a cooperative player is malicious. Responding to a player's appeal and complaint with memes (and nothing else) is unprofessional.
I rarely argue for harsh punishments, but this case is just so blatant I'm wondering whether it would call for this bozo to be deadminned immediately following this incident. It definitely warrants an investigation at the very least, which our headmins don't seem to be doing.

If the player does happen to see this by any chance, my advice is to not ask, and instead try the server and see for yourself. Asking this kind of question, especially phrased like this, makes it look like you're trolling.
