a while ago there were fake servers harvesting computer ids, i wonder if that’s at all related. but there are ways to tell beyond the cid and im going to assume with 90% confidence it was one of those other methods.

you know im going to be honest having the same username as someone on a cheating forum is not the smoking gun everyone thinks it is. anyone can sign up with any name they want on those sites. it wouldn’t be that difficult to pick some random name you see in-game and steal it for the forums. if i was a serial griefer that would be like one of the things i’d do.

1. They want to get good fast
2. They want to get other people mad
3. They get tired of losing
4. They want to be able to do stuff they are either unable or unwilling to learn how to do

What if he has more than one computer? I don't see how you can prove a negative.

With CID stealing that directly helps them since they can spoof the ID and evade the ban, they dont gain anything by stealing a low-impact players username and replicating that on the site they are pulling cheats from.

Alternate retard take: It's far more damaging to impersonate random people because most are just inclined to think they were just dumb enough to their real username on the site. Someone genuinely trying to get people banned is far more likely to be successful if their cheat site username isn't MrStonedOne or something of a similar vein.

Personally I think admins scraping this site to dig up bans is silly. You are taking the words of people who go to extreme lengths to fuck with the game as gospel, and it's not a good idea to place that level of blind trust in it. Rshoe has done far more bizarre shit than what this Max guy is positing here.

Personally, I would've changed the ban from permanent to expiring a few months from now (since it was applied only two months ago). /tg/ is the land of second chances and the only way you squander that is if you're malicious/bad faith.
