That's not enforceable and many of our players play while inebriated just fine. It's not an excuse.

I only usually deny first perma appeals if it's clear no progress has been made elsewhere or if the person appealing has zero remorse for what they did. As long as someone comes back and is either apologetic or can demonstrate that they've improved via a vouch, I can usually give them the benefit of the doubt. I only firmly deny if they've continued to act a shit on other servers or some extenuating circumstances occur, like with that guy who was actively trying to evade his ban instead of appealing it.

My theory on appeals is that there are very, very few things you can do that cause permanent damage in our community. The worst case scenario is usually that someone will come back, do something stupid, then get banned again. Most things that would result in permanent issues (ie: doxxing) get you blacklisted anyway.

The exception is hard, mask-off bigotry. If they can't be bothered to apologize and articulate why what they said was wrong, they don't come back.

On the other side of the coin, much of the time your permaban is much less likely to be removed if you can't link to another account where you proved you can play elsewhere without being a shitter.

It's generally better to just not repeat the same shit that got you banned. For instance, Evafan got in trouble on Bee for something completely unrelated to their ban here (I think it was an antag violation or something?) and I didn't take that into account when I made my decision. It wasn't related, so it didn't end up mattering.
