calling the police in against somebody is an act of violence and one that can (and more often in the US at least often does) have deadly consequences

it seems like their case is that "but nobody would take this dumb space game that seriously," but they do, and have. the consequences can be ultimate even if they don't and thought they were just doing a bit.

so if you give a shit about the safety of the players, you put swatting and doxxing beyond the pale of bringing them up towards others - even as a bit - because people can do some really stupid shit for the bit.

Why don't you guys just make the word banned via bot so when someone says swat or swatting it instantly gets deleted using a bot.. or is that too much work. You could even make it timeout the person for like 12 hours or something..

because context matters and there are (few) instances where saying it wouldn't break a rule
if people in polcon are discussing a news article about, say, a country or state making swatting illegal, we don't want to autoban them for 12h.

The rules are simple instructions and following them avoids being banned.

If you want to see the appeal format used correctly, we need to start banning people for following the rules and listening to admins.
