Is there any acceptable action you can take that isn't too meta (knowing that containment will fail in 100% of rounds)? I guess you could argue it's meta that they're all feeding themselves to become aliens in the first place though.

I wanted to execute them all for insubordination and then burn down the aliens but I restrained myself.

Also afraid people will complain I'm a killjoy, but I just don't find aliens very much fun to fight against.

Mapping solution: Move the igniter-canister setup that's currently in the testing lab to this lab. That way, if anyone wants to, they can burn the clown xenos trapped in the pen. But they don't HAVE to.

If they kept it below a certain threshold, it might be different. But when they feed the queen ten fucking monkeys, you need to go in there and kill the damn things and any brainwashed/idiot scientist that tries defending or getting near the shutter button.

A single queen getting out is actually a little easy to handle because she cannot vent crawl and instantly fuck off to who knows where to shit out eggs, which themselves take awhile to grow from scratch and there is more than likely at least one laser nearby the pen once xenos are known. Also fucking crowd control, there should not be ten damn people outside the pen watching the damn things hit critical mass so all the important people get wrecked the instant power goes down.

Here's a hyperbole: You can order AI and security to vacate everyone from Science department, then you can space all the booze, demote all chemists, recycle all crew PDAs, send PA back to Centcomm, implant atmos techs and engineers with all the implants and have them escorted with a security detail at all times and recycle all concievable tools to do anything, then bolt everyone in the shower naked with N2O gas and waltz to your office, twiddle your thumbs, hit your toe on the desk, go RED ALERT and call shuttle.

Golly, it's a plasma research station. Science just got creatures that seem to be quite intimate with said plasma, not to mention that they give good tech, tasty meat and make excellent maids. Captain certainly has the authority to cancel the project or to keep the xeno population to minium but that shouldn't be the first priority by a mile. If you're a captain and the prospect of becoming a xeno momma isn't appealing, shouldn't you focus the effort on making the containment more secure rather than turning tail at the first sign of actual science?

This, right here.

Engineering should be ordered to build cameras around the cell so the AI has a 360 degree view, I also like to update to the corporate lawset. There should be additional airlocks put into any corridor and hallway that bumps up against the containment. Additionally more containment cells should be added using rwalls and rfloors, and I advise getting an atmos tech to install a canister port so you can dump in plasma and blast it with an igniter. From there you can do all sorts of experiments, but i do advise keeping the room saturated with plasma and the scientists should always, always, always be backed-up in a cloner. Do NOT let anyone pop because they won't clone properly, they'll assume control of the babby instead! I advise sending a prisoner in with an electropack on, the plasma mix you have inside containment should discourage the xenos from fucking with you because everyone will die once somebody signals your pack. Plus don't even fucking hesitate to laser the living piss out of the xenos for the slightest provocation, make it clear that you won't tolerate insolent black people ayyliens on your station attacking everyone and breaking shit.

Scientists should definitely roleplay it out because if they don't it gets boring and stale and the xenos will have to be put down.

Oh, and upgrade the weapons available to the security officers. Have additional weapons standing by to be passed out to the lynch mob.

If scientists have a xeno or two and are making sure that containment plans are in place I see nothing wrong with it, it's their job. 3+ is making an obvious time bomb, most likely with the intent of having them escape for entertainment. In the end the captain and security have the final call but they need to remember that this is a game, they have a job, and as long as they're careful about it let them have their fun. It's what we're here for.

What I'd personally like to see is some reason to actually raise xenos besides exotic dishes and ERP. Make armor out of their carapace? Research their DNA? Make a weapon out of their blood? That way they aren't just a SHUT IT DOWN meme and more of an actual effort that, should the captain and security want to participate in, benefit everyone.

late to the party post: there should be benefits to breeding xenos other than maybe using them for bio research in r&d.

something really cool i think we could do is maybe add in predator tech to tie in with the xenos, kind of like how (TRIGGER WARNING)

it could do anything from have new weapons to aug humans (bio or equipment). xenos themselves could maybe be made more useful by research creating collars or somesuch that forces loyalty to their masters, like implants or golems.

the thing is, xeno "research" is purely RP at this point; they bring virtually no benefit to the station, and 99.999% of the time just end up with them getting loose and fucking with people's round, and people can get away with it because "lol research xD!" call me a killjoy powergaming faggoty whatever, but if we are gonna have xenos in the game like this, they really ought to have a bit more purpose in SOME way.

You can do this now. There is a reason to breed Xenos beyond harvesting their brains for bio levels! You can gain the following Xeno powers if you kill one and harvest its organs via surgery:
- Hivemind and whisper access: Harvest a Hive Node from an alien and put it in your head to gain access to these. Good way to compromise thier chat. Also, it makes facehuggers friendly to you!
- Neurotoxin gland: Put it in your mouth to spit balls of deadly neurotoxin!
- Resin spinner: Lets you create resin structures.
- Acid glad: Lets you melt structures with corrosive acid.
- Egg sac: Lets you lay facehugger eggs!
- Plasma Vessel: The most important organ of all! Without this, the other organs are useless, as you need plasma stored to use them. The vessel varies by alien type, queens having the best vessel. Not only does this organ store your plasma, it also allows you to plant and heal on weeds (slow burn/brute healing)!

Breeding Xenos is such a fun and interesting thing to do, and if I see it happen as RD, I inform the Captain and HoS, also requesting weapons to deal with the aliens once they escape.

whenever I'm an AI and science is breeding aliens, I always have to quell a deep urge to let them loose on the crew. you'd be surprised how often this happens.
