Money Tree's being plantable

So guys, what are your opinions on Money Tree's being made plantable? Basically with this PR they will come in fruit 'shells' which you use in your active hand. This will cause the item to spawn at you. While its in the shell you can extract the seeds from it.

I use money nearly every round
Make someone an officer, slip $2000 so they turn a blind eye to me.
Someone making too much radio chatter, pay assistants $500 a pop to bring me their headset and ID card.
Pay big bucks for space drugs, pay people to renovate the maint. bar, give cash to Engineers for sprucing up my office, I just love how unused the stuff is but how people react to it.

Don't do this. Space cash ought to have *some* rarity. Which means the service borg's dosh dispenser should be removed, or changed to fake money.
This doesn't make it any easier for botany to get some money. It only allows botany to spam huge amounts of money.

Money is literally useless. There is no reason at all to restrict it.

I mean hell, botanists can already make an infinite amount of medicine, uranium, silver, gold, zombie powder, etc. Why should some useless small items be restricted?

Seriously though, yeah botany can mass produce a lot of things. Currency has exactly one job, though: to be limited, scarce. (And to be easy to carry...) There's no reason to make it more mass-producible, particularly when there are plans to make it actually important. When that happens it'll be removed from the serviceborg device and it'll be actually scarce.

Okay, not scarce. Synonym fail. But the entire concept of money is that its value is controlled, by controlling how much of it is in circulation. That's why forgery is bad, and why printing too much money lowers its value (causes inflation).

Again, botanists can already print a bit of money. All this idea would do is allow them to rapidly print essentially endless amounts of money, which utterly destroys any value it might have soon. Hydroponics is not a mint.

Botanists can also get more dosh for their buck if they increase the plant's potency before mutating it.

The most important thing about cash is that its liquidity is absolute. You can exchange money for anything else. That's not true on the station. Moreover, nobody cares about money, therefore it has no value. It's just a funny item.

Space Money has a 100000:1 exchange rate to the Zimbabwean dollar.

Its worth infinitely less than the paper it is printed on.
