I am a long time fan of the Alien franchise (as well as Predator)
and my favorite antag to play as is obviously the xeno.
But the xeno isn't as true to the films as they should
(with photo evidence from the film), so
here are some important improvements that could really
change the way xeno is played/ played against.
(Yes I do understand that it's very stupid to
change something that hasn't ever changed)


1. Xeno babbys molting skin:
Something often overlooked
is that xenos actually molts
its baby skin (See image below)
so it may grow into its full form.
How to implement this: when a baby xeno
evolves into a big xeno it would leave
behind a molted body that would look
similar to the dead larva sprite but without blood
or head features. This molted skin would be
found by an assistant or someone and will
be a definite sign of what antag the station
will be going against.

2. Xenomorph's highly acidic blood
One of the xenomorph's most well known characteristic
is the its molecular acid it uses for blood.
I was amazed to see that this had never
been implemented in any way.
If shot or lashed in any way the bloodshould leak from
the creature and melt through the hull of the ship.
(See image below and note the quote)
How to implement this:
When a xenomorph sheds blood it will drop acid
equivalent to sulfuric acid and can only be
removed by bleach or it will dissolve through
at least one layer of the ships hull.

idea 1 is pointless but flavorful and would be neat

idea 2 has been suggested and had a PR at one point. apparently it's too hard to implement properly because it's so easy to coat literally fucking everything with blood by dragging a corpse around

Couldn't they just make it so acid blood only occurs when they get hit rather than when dragged around

Toxic blood would be workable, I remember a blood refractor that got merged and if we could apply that to xenos that would fix the toxic blood EVERYWHERE problem.

also I think we can agree that #1 is only for fluff and will not 'change how xeno is played'

Yes #1 is much more of an aesthetic, but say theres an assistant walking through maint.

Don't worry I'm way ahead of you there.

Molting has been planned for a while now, it's just low priority because it doesn't add much besides fluff and visuals, as opposed to gameplay.

Acid blood has been proposed a number of times, it'd just incentivize people to use ranged attacks even more (which I'm all for). Can be done at a later time because xenos really don't *need* more melee buffs right now.

Queen ovipositor stuff is next in line after the next wave of fixes, polishing, and balancing. This will make the egg laying process immobilize the queen, but give her AI-like vision to oversee things and function as a proper commander (also really necessary to not be bored out of your mind while pooping out eggs).

Xeno containment and research is even further down the line and is not gonna happen for a while, but it's planned out already. I think you'll like what comes out of it.

Maybe you could also notice that the six or so past major xeno PRs have all been rebalances and fixes to try and make them more fair, and I'm still doing that? There's another big rebalancing PR coming next that will deal with their melee RNG and leap spam.

After that, it's literally a case of you sucking at the game and needing to get good.

It's fine that the xenobio lusties exist because it's a rare thing that takes an entire round to see. They're more of an easter egg than an actual feature. These? It's just shoving meme shit in your face.

Firstly Colonial Marines don't use those sprites.

Secondly they're using their own unique sprites made by their own spriter.

There's definitely some good sprites there, but the art style is very different from the rest of ss13 and especially TG (since most if not all of CM is being sprited by one guy, so it all follows his art style).

I can definitely look into remaking larvas and eggs, as well as touching up resin floors/walls a bit. That's not a huge priority right now though.

I already sprited runners but right now the only source of those in the game would be corgis and cows.

Besides it's super low priority we have a lot more basic balancing and polishing to get through first.
