[POLL]Minor Lawyer and Detective Change
Two sections here.
------------------------------------
For some (fucking insane) reason the Lawyer has been given increased access to the brig, including the brig break room. This by default gives Lawyers access to Sec Equipment and easy access to most of the Brig. Not to mention they have access to the Security channel, one of the few station personal with Brig access, and are not loyalty implanted.
I wish to do the following with the lawyer
- Remove their increased Brig access, they will only be able to access the brig entry area and that's it.
- Maybe, if enough support but not without it, look at loyally implanting Lawyers.
------------------------------------
As a HoS player one of the most common questions I am asked is from the Detective, and that questions is..
"Can I have a Sechud"?
My suggestion is simple, give the Detective a pair of SecHud's.
There is no good reason not to do this, even if the Detective never acts to arrest anyone the mere fact he can report on a criminals position, be better in the know of the situation, and better set people to arrest are only pluses.
------------------------------------
Thank you.

Re: [POLL]Minor Lawyer and Detective Change
here's what the lawyer needs:
access to brig hallway
access to prison wing (not the cells, but the prison wing so he can talk to prisoners, i hate having to walk out of the warden office to let him in)
access to court room
access to law office
adjust the map access requirements or the lawyer's access accordingly, this should be the default lawyer access
that's it

For which reason did the lawyer get acces to the security breakroom? He already has an office to relax in. As for the detective, please let him start with the Huds in his locker. Whenever I play detective it's standard procedure to acuire a pair.

Re: [POLL]Minor Lawyer and Detective Change
Lawyer has access to the sec office because the equipment is in a separate room now, that's the only real reason IIRC.

Re: [POLL]Minor Lawyer and Detective Change
Add an option 'remove lawyers'.
I'd vote for that.
I'd vote for that.

Even better: remove antag protection from sec.

Where did that come from?bandit wrote:Even better: remove antag protection from sec.
Anyway, I think I worded myself incorrectly in the OP and gave the impression I was going to remove all of the Lawyers access, I'm just removing the back room's access since the Lawyer has no reason to go there.
I won't implant the Lawyers.
I'll be giving the Detective a pair of SecHud's.

The question of whether to implant the lawyers will become moot if sec antag is restored as it should be.Steelpoint wrote:Where did that come from?

Re: [POLL]Minor Lawyer and Detective Change
If you want to restore Sec's antag status, either revive one of the thread on it or start a new one. Last time that was brought up it was still about 50/50.bandit wrote:The question of whether to implant the lawyers will become moot if sec antag is restored as it should be.Steelpoint wrote:Where did that come from?

Having less places where security can avoid lawyers is good.Steelpoint wrote:since the Lawyer has no reason to go there.
I dunno, red doesn't really fit detective's overall style. I mean lots of detectives want baton, flash and taser, but that's not a reason to give it to them.Steelpoint wrote:I'll be giving the Detective a pair of SecHud's.

Re: [POLL]Minor Lawyer and Detective Change
i kind of agree with preventing sec to just avoid the lawyer entirely by burrowing in secfortress but secHuds would only make the detective more useful while keeping his status of "Private investigator".
As for loyalty implanting the lawyer... I'm torn, i think the lawyer should be able to be a crook at his job, while remaining on the straight and narrow, wouldn't loyalty implants basically be detrimental to his job of lawyer, which is to claim that his client is innocent even when he's completely guilty?

Heads aren't implanted. Why the hell should lawyers be? They're civilians.

Re: [POLL]Minor Lawyer and Detective Change
Difference is Lawyers have access to a lot more of the Brig than heads of staff, and a direct line with the Security channel.
It was just a suggestion thrown out after someone else commented on it. My main focus on this thread was mainly the SecHud's and the Access change.
