Mugshots, crewman faces
In character creation, lets add the ability for a player to customize their character's face.
This face picture will be closer up and in higher detail, and show up in security records, and when someone examines the character (while their face isn't obscured).
Let the player customize things like face shape, eye style, ears, and other details too small to be seen on the overworld sprite.
Things I've thought of so far:
Face shape, eye shape, ear shape, eyebrows, scars/deformities, piercings, tattoos.
Some face items can be reflected in the mugshot too (sunglasses, etc.)
Ties in with this.

Re: Mugshots, crewman faces
I love it. It's a much better way to add a bit more flavor to your character without adding something like flavor text which usually ends up being a joke. It would be nice if it came up as a clickable link when you examine someone (perhaps you have to be within a certain range?).
The only difficulty I foresee would that it would have to be synchronized in some way with the regular sprite creation process, otherwise you'd get a closeup that looks nothing like the actual crewmember. In the same vein, if someone chooses a random appearance at roundstart or has plastic surgery/uses a traitor mulligan, the closeup would need to change in tandem.

Yes, everything visible on the normal sprite (hair, skin and eye colour, beard, anything else) would be reflected in the mugshot. Anything else (eye shape, head shape, whatever else) can be customized on the mugshot.

Nice, sounds good to me. If it reflected things like Ratvarian cultists and other visual effects (Like the now-defunct shadowling thralls) that would be a nice touch too. You could even remove the obvious tooltip on examine and force people to look at the detailed picture for that information, but that's just extra shit.
I think the most important part would be making the closeups actually look good; not as cartoony and ridiculous as something like Bitstrips, and not as abstract and frankly ugly as something like Papers Please.
