Damage to the station is fun but it needs to be just as easy to patch up: cut construction times across the board, make some steps like lattice before floor tiles optional, blueprint following pipe and wire bots all kinds of madness.
Metal Foam and smart foam are nice but we obviously need to go further.
Construction at the moment to me seems to be in a good place. If you're a cyborg, it's ultra simple to repair hull damage. I recall someone suggesting all bombs have the functionality of a syndicate bomb, where it could be disarmed. If the station is never damaged it'll be just fine.
I think buffing the SM to take longer to delaminate could be one thing, although I don't think that is the tipping point for calling the shuttle. Having some way for atmos to have an easier time managing multiple plasma and heat problems throughout the station (maybe a remote for atmos?). I think also having certain key figures having alarms go off when they go down (tracking beacon suit sensors send alarms to medbay that they're hurt), it would make it easier to maintain the station.
All of these in the end hurt antags though. Sabotage that can easily be reverted would be problematic, but the question in my mind, what could they do to prevent it from being fixed? Often sabotage isn't even fixed anyway so I don't think it would change the overall balance.
