Switch the shutter controls between botany and kitchen to botany's side
The cook has CQC, he doesn't need shutters protecting him. There are too many newly emboldened cooks starting shit with us in botany and then running and hiding in the kitchen when we start retaliating. Then they'll just wait for us to get distracted trying to work and pull their next move. They rarely use the shutters, they don't need to now. They're all dying for a conflict to come walking into their kitchen so they can use their CQC. Give the shutters to botany to restore the power balance.
Or just remove the CQC that cooks never should have had. I feel like the only reason we even kept it is because goof utilized the old tactic of introducing a hot pile of garbage (cook CQC) next to a raging dumpster fire (chaplain CQC) so people will be more likely to tolerate the lesser garbage. The kitchen is already a fortress with all the shutters and blast doors, they never really needed it for defense.

Fuck no. It's enough that the chef has shutters, botany can already fuck your life up regardless.Iatots wrote:Add another shutter instead.

Yes. Botany beats chef and his shitty CQC any day, the shutters are mostly just there to close his room off from being wide open to one of the four major hallways. Botany is both already closed off and infinitely stronger.

Agreed, they probably don't need the CQC.ShadowDimentio wrote:Fuck no. It's enough that the chef has shutters...
Yeah, after 20-30 minutes of non-stop work. It's not really about that anyway, it's about the fact that the kitchen is the one repeatedly trying to harass their neighbor. Botany is typically content enough to just grow super dangerous shit for the hell of it. We're lucky if we do before the round goes to hell half the time anyway (or if we aren't wasting time fighting off the cook's asshattery).ShadowDimentio wrote: botany can already fuck your life up regardless.
Again, after 20-30 minutes of non-stop work and a decent chunk of know-how. Cook gets antag martial arts for simply existing. Regardless, I can rarely recall the times botany started shit with the kitchen the way the kitchen has been starting shit with botany ever since they got CQC. Cooks straight up baiting botanists and trying to get them to chase them into the kitchen where their CQC works. And once you dunk them outside of their turf to get it to stop, they frantically run and hide in the kitchen and the vendetta never ends. It's just not good gameplay.ShadowDimentio wrote:Botany beats chef and his shitty CQC any day, the shutters are mostly just there to close his room off from being wide open to one of the four major hallways. And Botany isn't closed off, on every station all anyone has to do is break a window to get in. I don't quite get how the shutters close off the room from a main hallway if botany is closed off like you say.

Just because you keep saying it doesn't make it true. A competent botanist can grow bananas in minutes, and then it's just a matter of slipping and hatcheting bitches.

Re: Switch the shutter controls between botany and kitchen to botany's side
The ideal solution would be to make it so shutters can receive two or more signals and only open if both are set to open
It could be useful in other places too. Imagine one of those high security doors that require two people pressing a button simultaneously to open

Why the fuck should the chef have to ask botany for permission to close his own shutters, that's fucking retarded

Re: Switch the shutter controls between botany and kitchen to botany's side
If banana peels are your idea of infinite strength, then I get the impression that nothing will satisfy you in regards to botany. And again, botany isn't growing bananas and deliberately starting shit with cooks the way cooks have been starting shit with botany ever since they got their round-start syndie perks. Which is the actual point here, which you keep conveniently ignoring.ShadowDimentio wrote:>20 minutes of nonstop work

Why should chef have syndicate CQC? THAT is what is fucking retarded. Why should cook get unrestricted access into someone else's department? You're barely making any points and the ones you are are barely, barely relevant. Mostly you're just cursing up a storm and throwing salt around. Can you try to make actual points instead of just calling things retarded like an butthurt 15 year old?ShadowDimentio wrote:Why the fuck should the chef have to ask botany for permission to close his own shutters, that's fucking retarded
Whereas goof already tricked everyone into giving cooks a buff they didn't need and abuse more often than not. Make a real point or go shit yourself somewhere else, troll.subject217 wrote:botany players desperately search for a buff they think they can trick people into accepting

Re: Switch the shutter controls between botany and kitchen to botany's side
As someone who plays both botany and chef quite often, I have this to say:
I seldom ever see the chef messing with me as a botanist. I seldom ever see botanists messing with me as a chef. The fact that anyone sees the shutters as a tool to protect one department from a knife or hatchet wielding attack is incredibly strange to me.
The purpose of the kitchen shutters is for when the botanist sets up an apirary. The shutters are an easy way for the chef to prevent accidental influxes of bees into his workplace. I've literally never seen the shutters used in any other case.
Chefs and botanists should be brothers and sisters. If you're having a conflict, it says more about your priorities as a chef or botanist player, rather than the map design.

I don't get why the chef has CQC either. Isn't crushing a gatecrasher with the shutters, stabbing them once or twice, and then throwing them back in the hall enough?

Re: Switch the shutter controls between botany and kitchen to botany's side
Unfortunately it's not always possible. If you're doing work in the side of the kitchen opposite to the front counter, you likely won't be able to reach the button in time for the shutters to close before the invader can climb down into the kitchen. Not saying that CQC is mandatory for chef survival, but shutter closure is only practical if you have a view of the front counter right when someone climbs up.cmspano wrote:I don't get why the chef has CQC either. I've never had a chef bother me as botanist, and its rare enough they even want something grown.
