Randomize Maint Items
There has been a lot of discussion recently on the idea of removing maint access from assistants and/or making assistants unable to be antags. I think the real problem here is not that people who know what they're doing play assistant, but that it's so easy to use maint to powergame as an assistant. A typical assistant powergamer round looks something like this:
1. At spawn, immediately grab the power cell for a stunprod.
2. Beeline to Cargo maint for the iron coin, kill anyone who gets in your way. Buy the insulated gloves from the YouTool.
3. Run back to Cargo maint and grab the sunglasses.
4. Run to Sci/Med maint and get a toolbelt and multitool.
Congrats, you are now a powergaming assistant who can break into anything.
I think that to combat this, the items in maintenance - both in the hidden rooms and in the maint halls themselves, should be randomized. It would still be the same items each time, but they'd be in different places, making it much harder to powergame.

This would, literally, be 1000x easier to implement if some example lists are provided. The system exists, it's just nobody uses it. It's a daunting task to make a bunch of lists from scratch. If nothing else, it'd be great to create some list themes that can be populated later. Examples might be lockers, leftover construction pieces, science equipment, engineering supplies, that kind of thing. The kind of stuff you see in metastation/efficiencystation maint but grouped thematically.
I code for the code project and moderate the code sections of the forums.

I think it's less of a matter of getting people to agree with you and more of finding someone to actually go and put it together.
Like MrPerson said, you could start by drafting some lists you think would work.

randomized robust weapon in the brig kinda works on metastation, it's especially nice when it's a combat shotgun so you can decon it for dem xray lasers

This would be a interesting idea.
Depending on how hard it is to code it (I can just look at how its done on Meta) I could investigate using this in my upcoming Box Map PR for when the feature freeze is over.
As everyone else said though, its more a case of writing up a list of good loot tables, as well as creating unique ones such as "Tool Loot" or "Clothing Loot".

I've had a first go at a loot table for maintenance based on current maintenance items on box, i excluded things that looked like they where part of a "scenery".

I'm not too sure about this table honestly. and a lot feels like it won't make sense once shuffled around (firefighting equipment for instance), what do you think?
