The possibility of someone jumping hoops to exploit information to possibly guess the game mode should not prohibit the development of interesting features.

With deadchat being mostly gone thanks to ghost roles, I think OOC is essentially the last place where any sense of community can be formed among the players, and being able to shoot the shit is a lot more valuable IMO than 120 seconds of random murder before the next round starts. It's also a good time to discuss the previous round, and even if not everybody participates in the pregame murder fest, the quality of OOC chatting would still be decreased.

the truth isn't that there's one tower, it's that the wheel (aurbis) when viewed from the side forms the tower, and the tower is the letter I, because there is only one "true" being which is the godhead and everything else is a fragment of its own psyche. the secret of the tower is realizing you are a fragment of the godhead but being able to individuate in spite of the fact that you are not an individual being.
