Merge Changeling with Revolution into a new Gamemode.

Both gamemodes are considered to have some issues regarding fun. Changelings are considered bad because they tend to take people out of the round, or otherwise turning the round into an game of extended. While Revolution on the other hand has less problems but does not really promote RP and often causes too much chaos.

This would essentially allow us to turn the Changeling into what it was meant to be. The "Thing". Where the goal of the gamemode would be for the Changelings to infect a certain percentage of the crew. Infecting should take a certain amount of time and be very bloody and visually obvious. In return anyone being infected isn't able to use the radio or move away. This would also mean that Changelings should get new abilities to reflect their new state of being. They would also be able to infect simple creatures, with ghosts now occupying their bodies.

Ofcourse Changelings can be changed into this while keeping Revolution but it might become too similar. Essentially with these changes it would take longer to "turn" people unlike Revolution while not taking people out of the round like Changeling.

Either way its a good idea, you'll find little opposition to it. However just like last time the challenge is to actually find someone willing to code the idea into a game mode.

Now we'll have the problems in both, together!

Hordes of changed people grey tiding and killing non-changed crew en mass while a steady stream of changed players (who can't be deconverted now) are fed into the incinerator as an alternative fuel source.

Merging rev and changeling makes me think of the Flood from Halo.

I really like this idea. I don't know if I'm willing to say I'd replace the 2 modes with it, but I'd like to see something come of this. I'll try and think up some more details when I can.

I suggested something similar a year or so ago. Generally people posting in the thread liked the idea but no one wanted to code it.

Revolution is a bad version of deathmatch and Changeling is a horrifying amalgamation of dozens of people's opinions of how to mould the Changeling as a antag.

To be honest you would be better off just scrapping Changeling and doing it all over again with a clear design document and objective in mind.

No one know's what kind of game mode Changeling should be, everyone's opinions are at conflict with one another and its just a mess at time's.

That's a pretty good point. I kind of just imagine an ideal Changeling gamemode as something evocative of The Thing, but in BYOND that's asking for a lot. As far as Revolution goes, the idea is really solid but the execution is so primitive that it's basically just a ticking timebomb that gives security the right to become the leaders of the station.

What if it was something more goofy that combined both the goal of converting people AND the goal of killing targets to acquire resources?

Maybe a game mode based on Killer Klowns From Outer Space?
