New Identity for traitors.

Discussing things in Kors thread about disguises got me thinking, https://tgstation13.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4000

Why not give traitors a Disguise kit. Comes in a basic box and contains three things
-An agent card
-A SE syringe that randomizes your features and name.
-A blank PDA, that when synced adds you to the crew manifest as if you'd just latejoined.

It'd take a minute to set up everything, but then you could basically ditch your old life and problems and disappear into the hoard.
It'd be lending a little of that changeling strength to traitors, and give you a chance to escape the heat.

I code for the code project and moderate the code sections of the forums.

It's not an outright theft of the ability, After all it doesn't turn you into a specific person or even a random person already on board.
Just a random name and face.

Speaking of which, changelings could use this too, an ability to give themselves an new unused name and face.

It feels wrong to spoon-feed traitors everything. You can change your face with Genetics or Surgery already.

To be fair, surgery is no longer viable since you can't do self-surgery and good luck trying to convince someone to give you plastic surgery without them either: A) holding it over your head for favours. B) Killing you during the surgery. Or C) Report your new identity to surgery who will undoubtedly pick you up at some point.

Now you could kill them to tie up loose ends but this assumes they didn't report you beforehand and are not robust enough to disarm spam you and carve your face in with a scalpel or circular saw.

As for Genetics, it can be somewhat hard to steal DNA while the lab has got people in it, especially when you aren't a member of Genetics. And requesting to go to Genetics when you're not medical or science staff will bring you under more scrutiny than usual

It's easy, ask for a sex change first because reasons and memes. Then notice your name doesn't match your sex and ask for facial surgery. Genetics needs a bit of trickery, but usually you can slip in by asking to be monkified, then snatch the UI(UE?) while he is getting a monkey from the pen. So far, I never got into too much trouble doing this in my DA rounds.

Point I am trying to make is, there are legitimate ways to get it done ingame, and traitors should have to work a bit for it, interact with the crew and stuff.

Like what [quoted] said, there is still plastic surgery and the mirror (though the mirror's probably more helpful here. If you can pick people's facial features out from the pixels then your eyesight is way better than mine.

If only traitors had some sort of way to identify each other, maybe in casual conversation, with something like key words, so they could team up and help each other.
Oh well.

If you lack the skills to get someone to help change your face, you can always get into genetics, or just use a voice changer. Hell, even just covering your face and not talking works for most of the time.

It's easy enough for traitors to melt away into the crew already.

Giving them the ability to hard-wipe their whole identity and get a working, clean identity without having to interact with anyone else is imbalanced as fuck.

When I used to play Medical Doctor I would happily perform plastic surgery and sex changes on anyone who volunteered because it was fun to do. If someone tries to use their knowledge of your previous identity against you

THAT'S FUCKING ROLEPLAY AND THAT'S GREAT WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO REMOVE THAT

Even within the bounds of RP I can think of plenty of reasons why a doctor might not want to help a sketchy assistant vanish off the face of the station.

Unless you play basil, or some other server, that's not true.
I find it unlikely that anyone on sybil can consistently get any surgery of any kind with the exception of brain removal.

Okie dokie, Over-ruled then.

I've never seen it be common practice, and outside of it's first few weeks the only use I've seen out of surgery was stolen tools to robust with.
But if you two say so, I guess I just wasn't looking hard enough.

I would like a checkbox to randomize the identity/appearance if somebody does roll antag, but a disguise kit (really expensive though) would be cool too.

Ideally I'd like both.

If a "give me random name/appearance if I roll traitor" box was implemented, I'd be wary of people metaing along the lines of "that guy's got a random name, could be a traitor" or "Urist McGoodguy always has a random name when I see his player as a tator, I can trust him" and so on.

Sounds good, anything to promote stealthy play. I used to use my parapen and voice gas mask to kill and replace people, however it seems that is no longer possible.
