brig should have more leg restraints

Post by Super Aggro Crag » #135246

preferably a comedic ball and chain that can be resisted out of like handcuffs or whatnot instead of just being removed easily. plus you could whack people with it. it'd be funny.

Apply handcuffs to orange shoes and you have legcuffs which slow people down to a crawl

Yup, and there's a set of shoes in every cell, plus three for perma.

Leg restraints are great, I use them often if I need to move a prisoner and am worried they might slip out of my grasp. They take time to escape from and really slow you down.

Actually, you CANNOT take off shoecuffs. Can't even resist out of them, someone else has to take them off of you.

We do need dedicated leg restraints crag is right.

We have just enough actual handcuffs to deal with the occasional missing but not for leg cuffing people pair I know how to make leg cuffs I just can't justify wasting a pair of cuffs and another person can still remove it from them.

2-3 sec ID access locked ball and chains (maybe let more be ordered in a prison crate containing gulag supplies and these) to stick on perma prisoners would be nice. You could still get out with emag/stolen ID so it would be fair.

Each officer normally carries 2 sets of cuffs. Assuming you're on box, you get one set in your pack, and one set either from the two pairs lying around or the vending machine. In addition, there's a box full of cuffs in the armoury. If you run out of cuffs, there are a couple of boxes of zipties floating about, and of course you can generate more cuffs and zipties from the autolathe and robots, or even just make some out of cable. Cable/zip is inferior, though.

Now, how often do you ever need to use leg cuffs? There's no point doing it for a normal brig sentence, in perma they'll just get taken off (I mean, I'm assuming dedicated leg restraints wouldn't actually have an ID lock and be more secure than any set of cuffs, though you never know), and in gulag the same applies, plus you want someone to be mobile enough to work off their sentence.

So the only real niche is prisoner transport. There are easily enough shoes for this. You need to move someone to the shuttle or robotics, you can take shoes, use them temporarily, and then remove them if they stop being needed. You can then remove your cuffs from the shoes, Bob's your uncle, Fanny's your aunt.

Well yeah they get taken off so I suggested make em harder to take off.

Incarceration isn't complete until they are moving like a turtle with a remote control flashbang implanted in their chest to catch any rescuers.

Make a machine that replaces all their limbs with mining tools and guts them putting a plasma furnace in place of their guts so they eat plasma ore to live.
