Right now, a changeling slug is pretty much the only thing that's worth doing gold slimes for - while xenomorphs, even when fed the sentience potion, are absolutely pathetic - they don't have plasma, they can't produce weeds, their neurotoxin, while exists, is laughable, and they can't procreate, even the queens. I suggest removing those aliums from the "stuff gold slime core can summon" list and add a larva. Or even a facehugger, even though it's a mask, not a creature. It would make xenobio much more FUN than it currently is.

Remember when there was a 10% chance for xeno meat to spawn in the kitchen fridge? Man was that fun. 10% of rounds were xeno rounds, completely irrespective of what kind of antagonist they had.

This totally didn't get old, nope. Definitely not.

I support a xeno game mode, I don't support them being spawnable by players - neither staff nor antag.

This would be like that but with alien facerape instead

WJ has actually asked me to remove the simple aliens from the cores.

I kinda want to make them drop real xenos bodies so you can do zany surgery instead though.

Spawning the real xenos that can't evolve into queens seems fine to me. The issue is more how out of hand xeno gets when they can grow in numbers of their own accord. A sole sentient hunter is still a pretty impressive threat, without being unmanageable to fight.

I would do this right now except for one thing: Real xenos don't have AI, so if you spawned one without the intention of making it sentient, it'd just stand around looking menacing

(also there's other pretty worthwhile things to breed golds for, sentient green eyed spiders can foster an apocalypse, an unexpected wand of death magicarp has very little in the way of counters, and statues are always good)

Making it so Science creates a new strain of Xenomorph which has no evolve capabilities (Alien Isolation style) seems fine as a endgame for Xenobiology. It removes the thing which breaks it while still giving you a deadly Xenomorph.

What if a random mob gets spawned in the xeno holding cell? Just use the gold slime list or something. The relatively small chance of it being a xeno queen adds to the !!!FUN!!!

Yeah, as kor already said, I'd rather we just remove simple animal xenos from gold cores. They're very sad little figures that somehow still cause just as much panic as real actual xenos do, despite being comparatively harmless. As for having actual xenos in the pen, I think I'd rather wait until we have more stuff to actually do with xenos (though we certainly have more now than ever before).

EDIT: To clarify on this, while we have plenty of things to extract from them now (brains, organs, and research to be made from those), they're all things that you have to kill them for. I dunno if you've seen, but being killed over and over to have your materials extracted isn't very fun (see slimes and changelings used for slimes). Perhaps once we have stuff like royal jelly or blood extraction, that'd be more tolerable.

Hey WJ, you know those xeno containment devices that were in AvP 3? If we wanted to do xeno containment/experimentation, we could start off a few NPC xenos in those, and if they get released make them human controlled somehow.

you could always make gold slimes have a chance of spawning a facehugger

There was actually a device specifically made to restrain xenos in a game. It's like this circular thing, it was in the 1st level of AvP 2010. I'd get you a picture of it if I could find one.

Edit : Right here is the best thing I can find, they have them restrained like that with their tails locked above their heads.

Yes, I was thinking exactly those. Again, I'd have to make unique xeno poses and all that, and the queen in that game has the whole ovipositor deal (and a restraining device there, too).

Almost done, just need to make versions for drone and sentinel, as well as sleeping/unconscious/dead/husked sprites, but those are all quick to do.
