please read my idea about gravity in this thread
We have shoes that give you gravity when there is none (magboots). Would it be possible to make the opposite so we can have hoverskate races? I wanna shred some rad moves, bro.

Looking at the code now, live-editing post.
Magboots don't directly alter gravity when activated, it seems, so I may have to look at movement code, got help us all.
There's a flag "mob_negates_gravity", might be what I'm after
Okay, it looks like by creating an item that set the wearer's mob_negates_gravity() to return 1, gravity would be ignored properly. If someone wants to act on this they can, I will be unable to for the next couple weeks due to Real Life Shit, however if nobody has worked on this at that time I will see what I can do.
