Upgrade for mining hardsuits to make them ashstorm proof

Right now most people don't buy the mining hardsuit because your slower and you don't really need them. But what if you could upgrade them to be ash storm proof? Or even lava proof them?

They should be ashproof off the bat, and (a large number of) goliath plates could make them lavaproof.
Of course, goliath plates already give mining hardsuits crazy melee resistance, so that might be interesting.

The mining hardsuit when upgraded should still be able to get you to 90% melee resistance in a spaceworthy suit so if you save your goliath plates you can become death destroyer of worlds and make eswords kill you in like 20 hits, though I forget what their AP is so it might be less.

Still being able to run around in ash storms would be a nice thing the only suits that do that are the space marine armor and the ash drake armor

Just implant a legion heart into you and you will be ashstorm proof.

Add an ashstorm upgrade to give miner's a goal to work to. It alongside the jetpack upgrade and goliath plates would effectively give them a space-proof riot suit with unparalleled mobility that's still useful for mining.

Plus if xenobio does their job, they can get fire resistance and speed increase for their suits to make them basically the best hardsuit second only to DS or the Elite Operative suit

-Boss reward

-Being augged in robo

-Xenobio cold potions

-Begging atmos/CE for rig (wont happen)

I dont really want to add it to the vendor and take away from boss rewards or working with other jobs.

Kor every one of those things are things that take time to do better spent doing your job. Augments take like ten minutes to get, xenobio cold potions take 15 minutes on good days, and begging for a hardsuit will almost never actually happen and takes time too.

Encouraging miners to not mine is dumb.

1000 point item, surgerizer, lets you instantly aug your limbs boom.

It's good because you still need robo to get the limbs for you but after that you're totally autonomous.

Clearly this includes you, as the Ripley already IS Ash Proof, and the Firefighter Ripley is Lava proof! Mining mechs are in a bad state now, they are far too slow to deliver, and while faster in low air environments, they are an absolute joke for mining, as human held tools are better. The problem with balancing them to be desirable on Lavaland is that you would probably make them rival combat mechs while deployed on the station.

Well yeah of course ripleys are worthless when it takes more time to build one than for a single miner to grab enough materials to feed science for the whole round (low prices and resource duplication always creep back into RD).

We are caught in an endless catch 22 of "we need everything cheap and easy because rounds dont last long enough" followed by "there is no point in doing cooperation/long term goals because everything is cheap and easy."

I don't know why RnD exists when all it is is doing the exact same thing every round and then spamming guns once you've done these things. It never changes and it's awful.
