Shoes/Jackboots/Magboots each should have distinct running sounds. Switching to walk lets you move silently in anything short of clown shoes.

Everyone but sec, miners, and engineers wear sneakers or loafers though. Emphasis on the SNEAK. They are quiet. Only sec should have the stomping trot of pissed off jackbooted thugs so we can appreciate squeak squeak squeak from our honking ally and then STOMP STOMP STOMP as the redshirts chase him down.

HOS should get a pair of amplified stereo boots, that plays the old jackboots marching sound but twice as loud.

why is this not in the game yet
give everything but jackboots a moderately quiet footstep, to where you can hear it if you listen closely and its 3 tiles away, the closer it gets, the more sound it should make.
jackboots should be rubber hitting metal loud, the hos's jackboots should sound harder, like dress shoes hitting tile floor (but not like high heels)
science can research sound dampeners for maximum steath, these can be applied to any shoe.
nuclear operatives spawn with sound dampened combat boots
traitors should be able to buy sound dampeners for like 1tc
also, putting sound dampeners on jackboots should give a subtle text of "You feel slightly less menacing now...."
also, seperate shoes, shoe sizes, and shoe degredation when?
hos having security officers polish their jackboots at round start when?
