Nuclear Operations - Individual Drop Pods

Post by John_Oxford » #237296

For 3 TC you get access to a drop pod harness.
Go into a certain 1x1 area, and wait for the team commander to approve it.

Once he approves all of them, he selects the locations for the pods to drop specificly (so one op in the armory, one in engineering, one in the ai core ect)

then you drop

koolaid "OHHH YEAHHHHHH" playing when you drop is optional for a additional 1 tc

How would the drop-pods look? Would it just drop you on a single tile? Or would the pod be a 3x3 shape so you could fit in the middle? Would it have weapons like the assault pod?

You should have to pay tc to NOT play the KoolAid "OHHH YEAHHHHHHH" when you drop.

It'd be a 3x3 pod with triangle blocks in the corner, for two TC you can have either it fire clusterbangs to the east and west apon landing, or to deploy six smoke grenades in all directions
or you can pay 14 for a detachable turret that is really just a M90

I really like this especially because the standard assault pod is so goddamn big that it usually is more of a hinderance than a help. The turrets on the sides seem like a really good bonus, but the thing is so fucking huge that they generally end up embedded in the wall where they can't hit anything. Personal drop pods sounds awesome, and I like the clusterbang/smoke/turret variants idea too.

Should there be some kind of warning indicator at the destination, enough for those in immediate area to know syndies are coming and they have X seconds (5? 10?) to GTFO or ready weapons?

I think that one of the perks of the drop pod should be the immediate surprise. And if you're unfortunate enough to be in the (presumably) random 3x3 square in the area where the drop pod is coming in... bummer. It's only a single op, after all.

On that note though, there would have to be some sort of system in place that prevents drop pods from overlapping, should the ops drop several pods into the same area. I'm already imagining some sort of hilarious three-stooges-type situation where each drop pod crushes the previous op's drop pod and killing them until there's only one op left.

I'm liking the idea of the Quake 2 style marine torpedo pod things.

will eventually drop sprites
maybe

might just be a 1x1 syndicate shuttle with fancy "grenade deployers" on the side or some shit

definitely gonna make it look like the tube's the tanks have on the side for smoke deployment
