i didn't really have much luck pitching this in-game because i tried to pitch it at the end of the round so i guess i'll make a thread

Basically, what I'm suggesting here is a civilian arrest; you toggle an option to tackle on, somewhat akin to an alien's tackle (I was thinking a one-tile jump and knockdown/slight stamina and possible brute damage on miss instead of a straight-up auto-push) and pin another human mob to the floor, keeping both of you on the ground until either you get up or the target resists you off. It should be resistable; initially I thought that a differentiation between a resist with intents should be the factor in whether or not the target stays on the ground, but I believe now that it should be determined by stamina damage; the resist deals stamina damage to both mobs, with stamina damage to the tackling mob being greater the longer the target is on the ground. Stamina damage is reduced from armor, which should also reduce the time necessary for a successful resist. Bulky armor like riot gear or hardsuits should grant tackle immunity. Hopefully this would be a reasonable medium between actually having peacekeeping equipment and just straight-up murdering a guy.

Armour, and especially hardsuits, should probably increase the time.

Jumping into someone wearing a hardsuit should just make a loud CLANG and have you fall on your bum like the idiot you are for even attempting it.

Polaris have a thing that if you aggressive-grab someone that's on the floor, you pin them and they're stuck until you move or they resist out, though the best use for it really is to switch to disarm intent, swap hands, and dislocate their fucking shoulder 'cause their medical system is fuckin' brutal.

I didn't think about that, good idea! Perhaps a random chance to hit either individual? I also think there should be a slight window for the target to escape; the tackle could keep them pinned just long enough for enforcement to arrive but still offer an easier alternative to, y'know, just killing them.

This is what I was thinking. I do not want this to be a vehicle for shitters to gang up on security, although that would be hilarious.

I've used Jumpboots for ghetto tackling in the past. You get surged forward 3 spaces, and slam into anyone infront of you, knocking you both to the ground and dealing a decent sum of damage.

you should be able to do a running dropkick as long as you're moving in a constant direction which damages and stuns but if you miss you fall flat on your ass for a long stun

This is also doable with a baseball bat or power fist (or anything that you can use to call the throw proc on yourself). That's kind of beside the point, though, since this is a thread about non-lethal, non-security takedowns (with the intended function of allowing security to arrive and arrest the perpetrator non-lethally) and not robusting dudes with silly exploits.

also, every time someone tackles a bunch of people on the ground, they all get stunned all over again, so it's possible to make a huge pile of morons.

The chief idea behind this concept is non-security personnel non-lethally subduing people instead of straight-up killing them to subdue them. I suppose an officer could hold a guy down for another officer, but as a whole I want this to put the tackler at a disadvantage from a robust standpoint; make them susceptible to getting hit (should a lynch mob try to capitalize on the target's immobility) and making time and stamina a factor so that it can't be held indefinitely.
