Friday the 13th: The Vidya - NES Jason update

Friday the 13th is the slow counterpart to Dead by Daylight. You play as either a counselor or one of the many variations of Jason. As a counselor your goal is to escape, with 5 ways to do so (repair cars, escape with police, kill Jason through some secret way). There's a whole host of items to assist you in your plan to escape, and even some cool events you can do if you find them (call Tommy Jarvis, who a dead player will spawn as with a shotgun).

The game features proximity VOIP. In a horror game. It's fucking beautiful. If you can find a walkie talkie, you can talk to other people with them too.

Release date is May 26th.

It's not like they didn't give everyone a huge notice to send them info on bugs. This isn't a Deathwing beta where they have 2 weeks. It's not coming out until Spring-Summer.

Holy shit when you can actually get in a game it's fun.

>spawn with other dude
>we meet up with 3 others
>all 5 of us fix a car up
>Jason appears
>we all split
>run around
>walk upon Jason chasing someone
>someone driving the car speeds past me
>runs over and kills the other survivor
>crashes into a tree because they saw Jason
>hear screams as I run away

Yeah I'm really enjoying it. All the current counselors suck compared to the black girl. She can run halfway across the map before getting low on stamina.

nothing i say is really a complaint, beta, etc... I do love what they have. If only they had the party system. I guess I'm a bit salty about that.

warning: do not tab out when the game starts. it will lock your camera on a random object until you die.

Yeah I thought this looked like crap from watching a stream but when I tried it I was amazed. They have a lot of time to fix the issues it has. Besides matchmaking it's in a better state than fucking deathwing. Runs great for me.

I thought the game was bad at first too but it's actually pretty fun. People are starting to understand how to play which makes the matches play out a lot better. I think the banter between Jason and survivors in proximity chat is my favourite thing about it.

just had a game with a 12 year old who didn't know what push to talk was, and he had a giant tub of what I can only guess was butter. he just fucking wolfed it down in the lobby, my god

He has pretty much max stats and a gun.

He'll be able to kill Jason in the final game. Can't actually kill him in the beta.

He's a second chance for a dead counsellor, with some of the best equipment and maxed out stats.

Also I think he'll be able to kill Jason in the full version, the guy is canonically one of the few people who's managed to survive several encounters with Jason and doesn't afraid of him at all.

All things considered, having in mind the success of Dead By Daylight, and the current reception of this game, I wouldn't be surprised if someone is making a game with that concept right now.
