Make it so skill changes only save if you escape the round alive and on a shuttle or pod, it would give non-antags a reason to want to escape alive besides RP reasons and would give an in-universe reason for the cross round progression. We are all clone templates anyway right? have the clone template update at centcom.

It would give antags a reason to complete their objective, then hide in a disposal unit until the shuttle arrives
if we are porting runescape skills 1 to 1 how are we going to level fishing? or how about divination? dungeoneering? magic? invention? the list goes on

What about in round skillsets?
Round start job determines starting skill stats, with boosted stats in skills related to your job.
Doing your job raises those stats. Doing someone else's job is harder without the boosted stats, but could be learned.

(this strikes me as the wrong forum considering we have a coding forum (though I think that's more for questions) and a coding feedback forum)
What do you think this adds to the game that will positively benefit the server as a whole?
If the skills add nothing of substance beyond "you can do more in the skill to level up", why bother adding bloat that servers no real purpose and will distract people from their established roles on the station?
If the skills do impact gameplay in a significant way, what makes you think it's a good idea to have people who have played more often be objectively superior to those that haven't (in a way that isn't the build up of knowledge and being able to execute in game actions better)?

It's going to be located on Lavaland to allow players to have more things to do after the first 15 minute ore mine drop other than raid dungeons and kill megafauna.
It's intended to allow miners to feel less shitty when the round restarts because it lets them keep their levels between rounds.
Glad you gave an actual response, but still not in favour because I'm not a fan of the mining on lavaland anyways
It's a personal thing but I don't like how miners are basically playing their own (separate) game, and this would come close to making that a literal statement
(yes that's a bit of an exaggeration, hence the "personal thing" qualifier)
I see where you're coming from, but the players seem to love what Lavaland has become. It went from Miner being a pretty unpopular job to taking Scientist's place as most rolled for job ever with people lining up to become miners after roundstart as many jobs.

yeah I'm well aware it's not exactly a popular opinion, I just don't like the idea of adding more stuff that [however many job slots there are for miners] people are going to interact with per round

on the arrival shuttle, I saw the iconic toolbox on the ground. I clubbed myself in the head with it trying to figure out the controls.
Setting the tool box, now bloodied, back on the table; I went to heal myself with a medkit. I clubbed myself in the head with that too.
I've come a long ways from asking how to switch hands.

The HoP just toolboxes someone to death out of nowhere, then gets speared by a chemist who saw him murder a guy, then the chemist gets beaten to death because someone else saw him kill the HoP.
Tele-man somehow dies and gets its looted by an atmos tech who managed to use it to send two nuke ops to lavaland, who were then surrounded by several very angry people from earlier and some extra golems on top of it.
Captain dies, gets cloned/revived, lasers the guy holding the disk into crit to take it back.
Some idiot tries to welderbomb the AI hiding out at mining for no discernible reason.
Two permabans and a dayban, i'm expecting a snarky appeal from one of them soon. What the fuck.
Kel wrote:>tfw all the edgelords are just gonna run around and autistically kill megafauna anyway for the untrimmed slayer cape
isn't it like super difficult to get untrimmed slayer capes because of how the xp ends up working out and you're levelling combat
it'll happen if you do extremely inefficient slayer (you'll get 99 in melee/ranged/magic or con first) but if you do high level slayer and dont exclusively focus your xp on a single stat. hell if you just set your xp to balanced whilst meleeing and do melee for the rest of your days you'll get 99 slayer first
